I'm Wondering What The Next Model Detector Is Going To Put Some Life Back Into The Classic Forum

Not much has happened here for awhile, I don't even know how many people even visit it any longer. So, anybody got any idea's of what model detector is going to be the next one to slide into the "Classic" slot that might bring some life back to the classic forum?

When I came along this forum was still hot with units like, the
Coinstrike, the
1266,
ID-Edge
Even some stuff about the CZ's

Seems, most of all the models that have came out sense those are pretty much still in production, and of those most have there own forums somewhere here in "Find's" so, that would mean they may never fall into the classic forum anyway.

So, I'm wondering what the future holds in store for the "Classic Forum"?

Lord only knows Mark what will head to this forum next. What's funny is the older classic machines will keep up with the newer machines if not out perform them.

In the hands of a seasoned user that has really spent the time to learn their old machine I believe your right with a lot of those older machines.

Hey Junior, I noticed you have both a 1265 and a 1266 and I know you backed out of letting the 1266 go, what about the 1265?
My brother has taken on that idea of maybe trying to find him one of those if he could find one in good enough shape and the right price?

Mark the 65 was gave to me from a fellow I work with it so I wouldn't want to let it go.

That's fine, and at the same time a little ironic. The 1266 I have was giving to me by my neighbor. He knew I was into metal detecting and I had helped him out a few times just being a good neighbor (friends) then one day I looked out the door and here he was walking across my driveway with this metal detector across his shoulder, I never knew he even had one? I go out side and he says, "you got any use for this"? he said if I did I could have it!

I have a plan for it this coming year.
We have a city park that is pretty old, and the curbs are packed with good stuff but its also littered with small pieces of trash. The park has been detected heavily sense the 70's but the curbs are so littered people just skip over them to get to the main areas of the park, my plan,
The 1266,
The little 3.75" coil,
Pretty high disc,
and search the curbs.
I've got a pretty good feeling that the 1266 with that hockey puck coil can sniff through the trash and snag some good silver coins.

Then I mounted up that 5"x 10" coil on my Digfellas 1270, and a headlight and I'm going to us it in the same park running high disc to try and cherry pick some deep silver out of some of the main areas of the park.

I never planned on having all these detectors, but seeing how I have them I want to set each one up for their strengths and try to dedicate each to a specific purpose or type of hunting.

With those two dedicated that leaves me three others!
No major plans for the Coinstrike yet??? (backup, loaner)

The Omega for now is my general all purpose coin machine and clad stabber and yes, its pretty deep too, it will hit 8" deep (in the dirt, not grass) coins with that 11" coil at a sensitivity setting of 65-69 (it goes to 99)
The Omega isn't really bad with EMI unless you get the sensitivity set to high and the 11" coil adds to the problem, with that coil don't expect to run the sensitivity above 80-85 if there's much source of EMI around. The manual states that with sensitivity settings above 72 the operator will start to hear circuit noise (chatter). I have so far opted for the 11" DD coil for the main coil, and I've dug a few bottle caps, but the areas I've used it in so far the bottle caps are not that plentiful, so I just dig them. From my research the 10" concentric (elliptical) coil is supposed to be much better at discerning bottle caps. I have both coils with my Omega, I did have the little 5" DD but when I traded off my ID-Edge for the 1270 I ended up adding the coil into the trade to better even up the deal.

The Tejon, I got this for gold jewelry, its deep, its hot on gold, even small gold. I don't see a meter of much use hunting for gold jewelry, so I wanted a beep & dig for that purpose. YEs, the 1200's I have are beep & digs also, but they are a much lower frequency which is better for silver, the Tejon I'm hopping is better for Gold.
