Went out today with new smaller coil..much better in trashy areas and has good depth...no luck with coins today..just oddball stuff..still getting hang of listening to signals.

You're learning. I love to see all your findings. You're doing quite well with the new MXT. HH, Nancy

I'm still learning mine also. At least you get a variety of junk. Mine is always pop tops and pull tabs, everything else is usually coins. I have realized that when my Mxt says it;s a quarter, it's a quarter. It's so good on quarters, it will almost tell me how many are in people's pockets when they walk by me. It's that good.

Good Luck - Chris

I really like the shooter coil and the 6X10. I use one or the other most of the time. The more you use your machine, the quicker you'll begin to hear little nuances in the sound of trash versus good stuff. It's hard to describe, but your ear begins to pick up on the slight variations in tone which, along with the ID, help decide whether a signal is worth digging or not. I'd read comments about this for some time with doubts until I had put in enough time to begin hearing the differences myself, but after enough time on the machine, the sounds began to come through for me.

Did you notice the good reading you got on the pop cans but did you also notice that they just plain sounded toooo big and not small and round?

Its kinda funny, for some reason the old flattened Hires Rootbeer cans seemed to come as a strong signal as a quarter..and wernt down to far so i dug them up easily...i guess if anything i can start a scrap metal pile..

In my area, the properties are old old farms.Money was hard to come by and spent wisely, bartering was a common occurance. So saying that,,,,,Lots of iron items in my area including old hard wrought plow pieces from the 1700's.So i settle for seaching for deep coins out in the large school playgrounds here. And still i find plow parts LOL i guess it was farmland way before it was a school LOL..Nice thing about schools. At the end of your seach,,,,,you can visit the dumpster and deposit your trash before leaving.....

Ah yes the aluminum can's I'll still dig when they're deep, you just never know it might be a cache!

get the book , the mxt edge by jeff foster , that will help, hh.
