I'm trying to decide on either id edge or cz-3d?

Hi everyone. My name's lisa and I'm new to the forum. I've heard alot of cool things about metal detecting and so I decided to give it a try. I went to a dealer near me and he showed me the fisher models. He said that I really could'nt go wrong with any type of fisher, and that it just depended on my needs and how many "bells and whistles" I wanted on the machine. I tried the id edge out and I really liked the simplicity of it. He also suggested (depending on my budget) the cz-3d. He explained that the id edge would give me a wider range of target id numbers, with target signals limited on the cz-3d to the 7 icons on the screen. (I think there was only 7 on the cz?). But he basicly told me any signal I got on the cz would go into one of the icons where on the edge they were more open. He also explained I would get a little more depth with the cz-3d. I'm really into simplicity and ease of use here, so I was wondering if people could give me there takes on both models and their suggestions? Thank you all for your help. Lisa:)

Lisa,They are both great detectors. My opinion the CZ3D is the most easy to use of the two.I think the Edge like the Coin Strike requires a learning curve. As a first time user the CZ would make a great detector that you wouldn't outgrow. You should consider ground conditions. In an area with red clay I would choose the Edge. The 3D is an awesome detector, but the Edge would probably be the better choice for a beginner due to being easy to operate, etc....
The 3D was really designed for very experienced detectorists to use at pre-1950's type sites. So maybe the Edge would be a more all around choice.....
good luck,
Bill

lisa i just got an edge a few months ago and it was really easy to learn and understand the owners man. has all the info you need to get digging fast, i'v even been useing mine in the water by mounting it on a body harness(coils water proof/detector controls are NOT water proof, a very easy detector to use and understand you wont be disapointed

I think I will vote with Bill Ladd on this. Though I haven't yet used an Edge, it impresses me as fairly up front and non mysterious despite the flaky scaling systems. I do have a 3D and about 35 hours on it convinces me it would be hard to part with. On the whole, I find my White's XL or one of my old Compass detectors somewhat more relaxing. I'm no expert either on detectors or finding stuff, but have had some kind of detector around to play with for the last 40 years (starting with a Fisher T10-X). As I see it, a first (or any !) detector should be Fun to use, and the Edge impresses me as having the edge there ! The 3D is quite a lot of hoss to ride at first unless you are an engineer at heart. Even so, the Edge will provide enough technical information to keep you busy until you wear it out. Yeh, I will probably get an Edge too as soon as I can find a steal deal on one !
