No hunts until Thursday my eye! I got up about 6am and couldn't get back to sleep. Since most of what I wanted to do today could not be done until later I opted for a quick hunt of 1.5 hours. I arrived to find the site, an elementary that I hadn't searched in about 6 months, had been hit hard because there were tons of unfilled holes in the bark chips. Shoot. I must have just missed him from the looks of things. Found a great coin spill with a SBA dollar, three quarters and a dime. A few more finds like that and I'd be quids in. (Ok Ian?) Sat down and had some coffee trying to figure out when I last had a SBA then it hit me. I hadn't ever found one! A few "gold" dollars but no SBAs. Nice find and this other detector has got to be a complete idiot to miss so many coins. Moved off to the grass and after a few coins got a nice solid half dollar hit (who doesn't love a nice solid hit on half or above?) It was the beautiful 925 ring. As I was looking over my coins and the ring, I saw the other "detector" return to the scene of his crime. A squirrel digging down about 3 inches to recover, or possibly bury, a nut. I kept my eyes on him and he was pretty busy the rest of the time I was there.
I really like the ring and it is in great nick! (That's two.) The middle cross hatched piece spins around the rest of the ring. 7.29 grams. Coin total is $6.99. Wish I hadn't skipped that last zinc cent now.

Disturbing, as always, the slug found on the kickball field.
