:minelab::coiltec::coiltec::clap::hot::cheekkiss:I just wanted to let the forum members on DOC's forum know, I'm so happy, the forum has gotten to be great one again, NO political posts, only gold and good equipment, it makes me proud. It has gotten to be one of the best forums again. I will do my part, and post reports and gold I'm useing and finding. and I hope it continues to go this way. A big thumbs upto DOC, for keeping the junk that was happening on here before off. Thank You DOC! Grubstake

Well from me, you will get No! politics, I love gold, this is a gold and DETECTING FORUM, thats how it should stay. I wish others would post there finds here. And though out some ideals on how and why to make or get better eqipment for our hobbie. Theres alot of knowledge out there just waiting to be tapped. So lets get with it. I'm going to post on my hunt tomarrow, with the 14 Coiltek AI coil. Stay tuned. Grubstake

There has been no political comment on this forum for close to 2 years.
So why on earth then do you feel inclined to bring it up?

You are currently doing very well with your detector, so well, in fact an Australian would say you are "killing he pig" (A saying derived from professional fishing, just ask Jackhammer for a definition!)
More strength to you mate. I hope you continue to do so.

However, you are making some grand claims about your current coil, and I feel it reasonable to ask more in depth questions about its performance relative to other similar options.

Knowledge of this kind can only be benificial to all of us, you included. So please dont take any offence in me, or anyone else asking for more detail or challenging claims. It is healthy and entirely proper to want more information and relevant facts. I am sure you can see my point.

You say you are going out again in the next day or so. Good luck mate. Show us a photo of some of the bits you are getting. Its great to see.

It is also worthwhile to let us know more about the area you are working.
Is the deposit in a large heap and probably not affected by soil conditions?
Or is the dirt from the past operation spread thinnly on the ground and affected by said soils?
Is there a lot of ferrous rubbish to contend with where a DD coil and discrimination being an advantage to a detector operator?
Is the Platypus coil outperforming other similar DD coils and why?
Also, excuse my ignorance, what is a Coiltek Al coil? I havent heard of this coil as yet, but I have been out of the game for a couple of months during our wet season.

Thanks Grubby. I look forward to your thoughts.

COILTEK renamed it because anti-interence more accurately describes what it does. It handles extreme ground, and you can use it directly under power lines and where areas of ambient interference cause problems.

Unlike Australia, there is hardly anywhere in the U.S. that doesn't have a mountain with a cellular microwave tower shooting signals across some old gold placer valley to a tower on a mountain on the opposite side of the valley.

These things play hell with our detectors. In Gold Basin Arizona, where a lot of us detect, it is on the opposite side of Boulder dam. Probably 17 miles as the crow flies. When they are operating all of the generating turbines at once at the dam, it causes havoc with the detectors.

The anti-interference is a hybrid DD coil, upside, works in harsh ground and interference areas. Downside, gets a bit less depth than the DD PRO.

Take care!

DOC

Dave, tonight, I will post pictures, and they will speak for them selves. I was in the past shying away from DOC's forum, only because of the political post, now it has returned to a very good gold forum! And I hope I can help it stay that way. There is so much that we don't know about the coils and new equipment being developed, over the last couple of years, I hope to kind of put the word out as we say here in the states, to let everyone know. You do have other options as far as coil choises, besides the DD and mono coils. I think its great, my old 2200 having the way to hunt under power lines, My friend with a GP, could do so some what by switching to the RX mode on his detector, but that still did not take care of it all. But with the AI coil maybe it would, I just don't know. But today is the Day, like Mel Fisher use to say. I will find out just how well it does at least in that area, and I have a couple of more I want to try. Just so you know, I don't work for DOC or ROB, but Rob and I have gotten to be friends over the years, Rob sent me the Platypus to test, and I have the wet country up here to give it an honest try. I would not give that coil up, as a matter of fact, a friend asked me tosell it to him, as he has been detecting with me almost everytime I have found gold with it. I said NO, but you can order one from ROB or Doc. I hope the AI coil does as good. You will find out some reports tonight. GRubstake
