I'm shocked at this weeks luck.

A half dime was on my want list for 40 years. Last Friday I finally found one, 1853. I was on cloud 9 all day. Today, only 3 days later I dig up another half dime, 1854.
They were about 1/4 mile apart. Two in 3 days! Can't explain it. Also found a 1860 IH fatty today. HH, Jabbo

You're probably going to find another.. Things happen in threes, right?

I found a 'skinny' Indian head last week. Now I want to find a fatty.

Using my CoinStrike with 8" coil. Getting to know its signals better. Both half dimes gave a mix of tones but had enough high tones in there to make me investigate. Both coins were 6" deep or more in mild soil. Sometimes i search in All Metal mode and look at the screen numbers to help me decide. When more junk is present I use Disc mode and listen to the tones. All Metal mode covers a wider path.

amazing how that happens sometimes...... its still on my wish list....some detectors have that slight ability to see those certain targets that others cant quite latch on to.....every machine has its strength and weaknesses....

Seems to be a good general area. The woods in that area gave up 6 IH pennies and the first half dime, etc.The second half dime was found in the back yard of an old house. Maybe it was searched years ago, I found no other old coins in that yard except some clad, glad they missed this coin. Most of that area is covered with tall weeds till winter, but for now I will search the woods again. Oh what fun. Jabbo

CoinStrike with 8" coil. See reply above for more info.

AMC, I found one seated dime sometime in the 1970's and none untill 2011 when I found 6. Maybe lucky cycles pop up now and then.

Ohh would tht be nice to find,

Several times during the past month or two I was thinking "I am over due on great finds, they are around here and this detector goes deep". Right after I made that claim, this place where I found the half dimes popped into my head, a detecting buddy (who died of diabetes, etc) told me about this place four years ago. So, I went there and found those coins just after I claimed I am over due. I believe I made my own good luck with that claim and that I was way more than 51% positive. (We go through our entire lives claiming positive and negative things).

DirtyDimes, I agree. I think there is something to beginners luck. I'm no beginner here, but they are full of enthusiasm. Found one IH penny today, kind of toasty, can't make out the date.

Congrats Jabbo, I found one and it had a hole (I'm told that was for sewing into clothing for safe keeping).
They are a special find to be sure. Very small footprint.
