I'm really going to like this machine...

I took the ATP out into the back yard again yesterday after work; still trying to learn the various noises and numbers on this machine when suddenly I thought: "what the heck!" I jumped in the truck and went to the local park to bench test some real targets (time change; still daylight after work. :)) OK, in my excitement I didn't take as many notes as I should but it was still a good learning experience. From the "quasi air testing" I did in the back yard I learned that high pitched tone is probably a coin, so I set the machine for Pro/zero and listened for the high tones. For the first time in my history of metal detecting, I dug more treasure than trash. For the hour I was out, I got five pennies, two dimes, and a couple of quarters. Granted, it's nothing to write home about, but I though it was a good start (I have hinted longer and found less before...) There was an abundance of trash too; the AT was constantly making strange sounds and noises, but I was just listening for the high tones. A few pieces of "lawn mowered" aluminum cans did throw me off a bit, but still cannot complain (not one single pull tab.) Although there is no telling what I left in the ground, I wanted to see what I could do just targeting coins. Next I will start digging some of the lower tones to see what comes up. Got to remember to start watching the numbers...

The pin pointer on this thing works pretty good too. There were a couple of targets I did not recover. I believe they were just too deep and with a signal that strong and that deep, then most probably a can, but for most, the pinpointer put me right over the target. (Still have hand held pinpointer on my Christmas list though...)

Actually the Pin Pointer on the AT Pro is "deadly" compared to my last one. Very accurate in depth and spot on the target (with mine anyways).

Great story their controlfreq, thanks for sharing it.:)

[size=large]great story. good positive vibes. if your gunna watch the vdi #s don't get all attached to them. some hunters have found digging the good sounds found them treasures. if ya get a steady 49, 50, 51 then it's a good chance at nickels. of course it depends on what sounds your targets make in your soil. it is more enjoyable finding good targets instead of digging the trash. you'll want the hand held, preferably garrett, anyway for once you're in the hole. the ATP really tells ya when it's found a target don't it? you have another grand day and find them treasures!!

Great story...Isn't the AT Pro a treat...wait till you really get to know her language and you start digging the interesting stuff...

HH,

Yep, it only gets better.
