I'm really curious ....why?

I'm just curious about something!

The AT Pro seems to be an outstanding machine and has many great review.
I guess you could say because of the IRON audio and toll roll feature?

With this being said ...those features are intended to help you determine
what may be a good target.

What I am curious about is why the Garett GTI 1500 or the GTI2500 don't get
as much attention. The imaging feature on those machines are also quite cool.

Is it perhaps that the imaging detectors not as good for finding the gold and
the ATPro being waterproof?

Just surprized that the imaging detectors don't have as much talk about it etc...
Seems like the hobby tends to forget past detectors. ??

Your thoughts?

You pretty much summed it up Larry. They are just not as sexy (so to speak) anymore. I don't post much about my finds these days, although I have been taking my 1500 lately. I often prefer to hunt with the 5x10 coil as I like the audio feedback it gives me. Finally took it over the $1000 mark in modern coin finds last week. Got 2 other detectors I also get out with, which has been at a reduced amount of hunts over the last couple of years.
The imaging is a nice feature, but it not everything. It does cause a slow recovery speed though, but a useful feature. I think that Garrett's will most likely release an updated GTI model down the track with all the bells and whistles that are on the AT Pro so everybody will be all over that and the AT will suddenly loose some popularity. Sound familiar.
Mick Evans.

You will find that sooner or later you will be hunting by sound alone. The info on the screen will never be as good as your ears and brain I hope. Also these machines are becoming very old in technoligy and are in dire need of replacement. I'm sure Garrett realizes this and are soon to release a new machine that will knock your socks off.

Thanks for the responses!

Yes ... perhaps the GTI has already been past it
best sale days and the sizzle of excitment is gone.

Metal Detecting is surely one of those niche
hobbies where the companies can easily
keep the hobbyist coming and going!

In any event it's really interesting to see the
innovation in many of the new machines.

If the companies get too greedy on their
prices however we might be better off
buying silver or gold! ...lol
