I got a pile of ML gear packed and I'm heading to VA in 6 hours for 3 days of civil war relic hunting!

1 - Shiny new SE (Thanks Joe Demarco)
1 - Heavily modified lightweight XS
2 - Stock coils
2 - X1 probes (Thanks Joe Demarco & Sunray for such a great product!)
1 - ML 8 inch (Thanks Joe Demarco)
1 - The mighty 15 inch WOT (Thanks Joe Demarco)
1 - Big mother of a Preditor relic shovel plus a backup

And enough batteries to guarantee I'll need shoulder surgery come Monday! :D

PS: Hey Minelab, I love the new ML detector bag, I have that thing wedged with gear and there's still room left over.

Are you coming anywhere near the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area? I live in Virginia Beach and work in Suffolk...done a lot of relic hunting in the Suffolk area.

...was wondering what kind of program or settings you plan on using in that 'bad' soil. I've never hunted in that kind of dirt, so not sure what settings to start with.
Thanks, will look for you there!

I'll start with my normal settings, Gain 7, Sens about 26 with the stock coil and see how that works. If its too noisy I'll back off my gain to 6 or even 5 before lowering my sens. I'll also try turning Deep OFF, in fact that may be the first thing I try. A few years back someone from Minelab suggested that in bad ground.

Now the good news, I know someone who has hunted a stones throw from where we will be, he said last year a guy with an Explorer was cleaning up in that bad ground so thats great news for us.

One final note, there is bad ground and then there is recently disturbed ground. The Explorer don't like disturbed soil at all so I may stick to the fields and woods that have not been disturbed in a while.

You Luck..
So much snow here but melting fast. I upgraded my exp2 with a sunray x1
probe and a new 8" coil and cordless headphones... I'm a chompin at the bit needless to say.
