i'm not planing to get in the water that deep mostlly just shore huntting wich is better xcal 1000 or the sov gt?

Tomcat, I have a GT and use it only on the dry and wet sand. If you plan on going into the water at any depth I would recommend the excal 1000. If a rogue wave catches you while using the GT and knocks you over into the water the GT will be toast, the excal 800 and 1000 are water proof. The electronics in the sovereign GT and the excal 1000 are the same. Just my 3 cents worth, Good luck, GH, Don
