I'm Not Brand Loyal But...Whites Are The BEST!

That is a brave statement indeed but I can see where you are coming from.I've owned an mxt and an m6 and to be honest they have the best quality, along with c scope and performance that can,in real terms, not really be beaten.Great detectors.

I just thought that subject line would get someone's attention! I personally think you get more for your money with Whites! Solid performers AND Solid build qualtiy!
I'm still using my Classic 3SL and it will hold it's own with a lot of new stuff that's out there today! It gets a lot of stuff at the same depth that lots of higer end detectors do and 50-70 hours on a set of batteries. So it doesn't have a meter...So what! I've been using this same detector for almost 20 years and works just as good as the day I bought it from Monte! I Never dig nails unless I want to.I Never dig bottlecaps unless I want to.It rejects the small pieces of foil and still gets the small jewelry. The headphone jack is located where it should be on ALL detectors. It's perfectly balanced with a small coil and still balanced well even with the stock 9.5 coil.No problem getting the depth on coin sized targets that others are saying they are getting depending on conditions.Very good Analog speaker frequency without the mosquito noise that a lot of newer detectors have. It's a very pleasent tone and very smooth sounding on good targets.Works great around iron.
Has All metal accept at zero disc which I love for various reasons. It IS a Mr Bill modified detector but even before the mods it still all the great performance!
I've learned a lot by using it all these years and it has Never failed me.It does exactly what it was designed to and does it well! There are no useless functions or controls on it.Another reason I like it is because it had has Real Knobs and Toggle switches and the Trigger PP and Mode change has me spoiled! I am in complete control of the detector and not the other way around! The variable frequency works great even though I rarely have to use it.
I could write my own book on the Classic 3SL and My experience with it!
Now..with all that said....I am going to buy another Whites detector sometime after the holiday seasons and NO it WILL NOT replace my Classic 3SL!
As long it's alive and well..Me too..I will keep on using it along with my New MX5 and later on an MXT Pro or All Pro!

HH!
RonK

Well said Ronk,it just goes to show that a good solid design can still compete with the latest gadget packed detectors.Like you,i'm not one for gadgets that do nothing to improve finds rates,i like a detector that is simple to operate with excellent performance.I owned an mxt and m6,both these detectors are excellent machines that are just as good as anything and better than most.
