Not sure about gold content, cannot find karet rating, case sayes "dueber" chain is stamped on clasp 12 karet

from the look of the engraving, it appears to be solid gold, but what content...........

have fooled with pocket watches for 40 years. Your watch is a "hunting case" style. A lot of people call these "railroad watches" but the flip-open case was never approved for railroad use.

Your Dueber case could be solid gold but more likely is gold-filled. The GF process is much like a clad coin with base metal sandwiched by a layer of gold on each side. Cases were guaranteed not to wear thru the gold for a certain number of years, depending on the thickness of the gold layer. A 25 Year Warranted case would have far more gold than say a 15 Year case.

Your case will definitely be marked. If solid gold it will have the karat marking. If gold filled it will have the karat and "Warranted For XX Years" marking. I'm assuming you've opened the back 2 lids to the movement and haven't found it. If so, the markings will be under the picture on the inside front of the case. Hope this helps. HH Bob
