Im looking for feedback on the DD coils for the Xterra 70

Hello,

Can anyone make comparisons on these coils compared to say the Explorer or Excal coils? Do they perform relatively the same? Im more interested in the one that looks like the Explorer coil but info on the other one would be great also.

Thank you,
Neil

That's a difficult comparison: the Explorer operates with FBS circuitry (28 frequencys) and the Excal uses BBS (17 freq.) The Xterra's are single frequencys but can be altered by changing coils. The 5x10 DD is an 18.75Khz coil that I would recommend more for beach hunting (coverage, sensitivity to small gold, and mineral sand). The other 9" coils are 3Khz, 7.5Khz and 18.75Khz. I find the 7.5Khz to do very well for my land hunting, and I did take it to the beach (Xterra 50) and as long as I stayed in the dry sand, it did an outstanding job on coins. I haven't really seen the 3Khz perform any better than the 7.5Khz, but in some areas, it may perform better on silver. In my area they are neck and neck. I expect to see other coil offerings in the future from Minelab. Maybe some smaller diameter's. Good hunting, David@Dixie

Thank you David.

I have the 3 concentric coils for my 70 but wanted better coverage at depth on the beaches I hunt. I still use the stock coil and havent even tried the others as I am very satisfied with the sensitivity and depth but not so much the coverage at depth so I thought a DD would be the answer. Mike Bearden has also answered this question on another forum.
