I'm looking for a good "silent" handheld electronic pinpointer.

Mike Hillis

I normally use a Uniprobe. I like it very much.

But sometimes I would like to use a different set of headphones which means that I'll need a handheld pinpointer. I prefer not to make any noise at all, either with my detector or my probe. In-line probes like Sunray's are out as I use several different detectors. I'm looking for one good one that will work with any machine, just like my Uniprobes will.

What is a good, "silent" handheld pinpointer?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike

Vibra probes are silent.which I have.
I use the Garretts Pro pointer with the speaker covered with two layers of black
eletrical tape, vibrates well felt.noise unnoiticeable.
Use earphones on all of my detectors. Like you I use 5 different land detectors .
Also use the Whites Bullseye where theres a switch to select sound or vibration
detection not as deep as the pro pointer.

Garrett Pro Pointer Mike, you can't beat it in a hand held pin pointer.-----Just cover the speaker with tape and you're all set.----The vibrator is strong & when you hit a target, you know it in no uncertain terms!---------Del

Mike, I use the Garrett Pro Pointer and simply hold my thumb over the noise hole to keep it quiet.

You know i have a Vibra probe.... but i have to say i dont care much for it. Its well made and will vibrate.... but it doesnt get much depth so i find myself going crazy in the hole. Like most of them they give me detector feed back. Also, those darn things if you dont take the battery out will come on and drive you nuts trying to figure out where the noise is coming from.

Mike, like some of the others I like the Garrett pro-pointer.
It will not get the depth of the uniprobe however.
There may be other good ones out there but I hate all of them
that have adjustable sens., don't like fooling with that while detecting.

I like the Garrett Pro Pointer also with taping......

Is the Garrett THD pinpointer, almost the same as the pro pointer, it is a vibrate only type. I've used them and like them just as well as the pro pointer. There has been some on the "Bay" very resonable, some going for $75. Retail on them is higher than the pro pointer.
