I'm Having A Ball With My New Tesoro Cibola:tesoro::usaflag::detecting:

I had high hopes of finding some silver coins today. I put the 8 inch doughnut coil on the Cibola and set the discrimination on foil and started swinging away. I was finding wheat pennies all over the place (1917, 1941,1944, 1919, 1924, 1954, 1928, 1941, 1919, 1929, 1928, 1931, 1929, 1950, 1940), so I knew that it would only be a matter of time before I unearth a nice silver coin. Nothing! On a brighter note, I got the wheat pennies out of the way so I can get to the silver coins. I did manage to find a dateless Buffalo Nickel, a 1908 Indian Head Penny, some Memphis Rail Tokens, a old button, a Sterling Silver Thimble and a Sterling Silver Earring. The earring was in 3 parts but the Cibola didn't have any trouble zeroing in and getting all the pieces. I also found another coin that I haven't identified yet. It's the same size as a penny and the head on it is facing left. It's going to need a bunch of soaking and cleaning. I keep threatening to turn up the discrimination and just shoot for silver coins, but I worry too much about missing something really good.

I'm soon going to be testing the NEL Sharpshooter coil on the Cibola and Tejon.:detecting:

Wow! Great finds Tabman! I am interested to hear what you come up with on the Sharpshooter on your Tej

Looks like a good spot to hunt with that many wheat pennies showing up. As always you have a nice assortment of finds....congrats!

Just wondering, Tab. Have you tried changing frequencies to see if the g/b is influenced? Thanks.

I haven't tried it on the Cibola, but I did test it on the Vaquero after reading someone's post that stated it did change the ground balance. It has been awhile since I fooled with it, but I do remember there being a change. I usually run as much negative ground balance as I can without getting too many false signals.

What a great hunt, it looks like that Cibola is working very well for you.......:clapping:

Dang I would say its working good , I like that railway token, and you did find silver keep us up on the coils this is exiting

Nice job with that Cibola. How would you rate the modded Cibola against your other Tesoro's? Can she get deep? It would be interesting to see how the Cibola handles the sharpshooter!

She goes really deep and does so with a silky smooth audio response. Matched up the 8 inch doughnut coil, it's like swinging a feather. :detecting:

It's hard to believe that such a small lightweight detector can do so much, but it does.

I plan on doing some testing with it and the Sharpshooter coil. I'll post my findings as soon as I can.

You are making me want to get one and do the mod!

Tabman, you run with negative ground balance? I've never tried that, I was always taught to run with it just on the positive side.

Just slightly negative in the discriminate mode.

I finally got that one really dirty coin cleaned up enough to ID. It's a 1923 Italy 5 Centesimi. I'm finding a lot of old foreign coins at this site.
