Behind my 200 year old house there once stood a brick cook house that's long been pushed over and buried, and covered with nice green grass. I've tried detecting here several times, but its a solid blanket of junk. Pie tins, copper tubing, big iron, Mason jar lids, and on and on. Today I put my detector in a "hot coins" program. Finally after a few minutes of continual clicking and chattering, I got a good response. Dug this 4" wide, 6" hole, and took out these 12 pieces of metal from that one hole. The detector was responding to the triangular-shaped whatchamacallits. Anyway, that'll give you an idea of the area I was detecting tonight.

It was too dark to take photos by the time I found these few things, so I brought them in the house and cleaned them up a bit. An ancient handle to a toy gun, a cheap pocket-watch frame, large flat button, Indian head penny and one REALLY old button.

This button is very interesting... 8 stars on a striped shield ~ 8 stars! I had to get it wet so that it would show up better. Anybody have a button book going back this old?
Oh, and one bulging pouch full of junk
