Hi there

I haven't been on for a while I have been really busy planning my trip. Im leaving in 2 days.
Before I packed and cleaned my detector 2 weeks ago:

I have found in no particular order.
one old cottage site
1855 half penny, 1860 Nelson Trade token, Jews harp and my uncle found a 1853 half penny with his eyes!!!

Beach in town here
The waves had pulled all the shingle of the beach in one place, I went hoping for some modern coins, Instead I got a screaming 45 signal and pulled out a mint condition 1908 GB Florin. It is really nice. Ill post some pics when I get back from The UK. on that hunt I also found a few dollars in modern cash plenty of unusable NZ decimal currency and a 1913 three pence.

I had one find Identified while I was up in Nelson, I showed my mate a brass tube I had found and apparently it is a ramrod holder of a 1700s brown Bess musket.

At another site I found an old snake buckle and a musket ball. Im very happy with those finds.

I cant wait to go detecting for a few days in England, Its My OE as well so I will be going to France to see the Louvre and Ireland to see the leprechauns, MY ancestors came from Mountrath and Im going to see their old houses etc. Im hoping for 3-4 days on the Thames River, detectorless as it costs to use your detector there. Anyway I hope to have finds pics posted and will take pics of them in the ground as well for you guys.

HI ya Moa,

Great to hear about your finds, look forward to the pictures when you get back
Have fun

Good luck with the trip.
You might want to touch base with some of the local detecting clubs while you are there. I think that there are some restrictions on detecting in both countries. ie I don't think that you can detect in public parks in England, but private property and beaches should be fine. Double check first. Also, if you get in touch with one of the clubs there, you might just be able to join them on a hunt for some hammered coins eta. Wouldn't that be sweet.
Have fun.
Mick Evans.
