I'm going to buy a better sand scoop - Diamond Head, anything good or bad I should know before I buy it. This scoop costs as much as my detector :rofl

Its time to get serious about beach hunting!!! I am looking to get an Excal here in August. My buddy Greg sent me this web site, and I know Bruce has on of these. I was just wondering if anybody had any negative thoughts about it? Or if you know of any other place where it might be cheaper? If not I will place my order tomorrow afternoon, thanks for your help. If you know of a better scoop, by budget is $200.
I want to get the 48" one for $171.

Its great I was going to say look at the longer handle but actually I have had no problems with the regular one.

It's awesome punches through everything like butter. A little heavy but that is my water scoop not for dry sand.

Good luck with it good choice

Now that the weather is warmer, I am going to go into the water, but just waist deep. But I will still sweep the dry sand too.

I have the Diamond head and it works very well in all conditions especially where there is a lot of shells and stones.

If you want the best of both worlds "wet and dry" check this one out. It is one great scoop.

Babb Enterprises, dba as http//www.Proscoops.com

I looked in there, but the diamond head was recommended to me, thanks for all of your input.

I don't like the look of that shaft, I bought a Babbs Heavy Duty Scoop with the Stainless tip. I have found out it is good in the wet and and in the trough
It is in the price range that you are looking at.I can send you the information where I bought it. gosports1@aol.com goldnugget-Charlotte,NC

Diamond head with 48 inch handle is the ticket ,short handle is not long enough ,, killed my Back... :hot: GREAT SCOOP no kidding Guzz1

I used it today for the first time and love it. Very well built, can't see having to ever need another on, dry or wet sand. I love this thing!!

Hi i have used the diamond head sand scoop for couple of years now , Nuttalls kindly supplied mine in two sections so it would transport in the car easily , fantastic build and still going strong

Hope this helps you and fellow beach hunters

Whatever works, but cheaping out is foolish. A good scoop makes a quicker recovery and avoids physical damage to one's body. Buying a new one every season of breaking in the middle of a hunt or trip is costly beyond the difference in price of a good one and a cheap one. With the investment in an Excal your scoop is a modest outlay! I have a half dozen junkers in the garage to prove I know what I am talking about!

Be aware of the scoops pointed design. I prefer a more traditional round point of some of the other scoops. I feel I'm less likely to damage an item with a more rounded tip. ( Stealth, T-Rex and others)
