I started out with the 5.3 but after about 5 minutes I changed to the D2, I just can't warm up to the 5.3 but i'll keep trying, maybe at a place with more targets. It was cold and the ground is a bit too wet for good hunting.
I dug a fired .22 by accident. I was digging a foil/gold signal and the .22 popped out, then I got a flat round piece of foil about the size of a nickel... hmmm.
I didn't get anymore hits that I wanted to dig with the V3. I will say that this park has very few good targets that are not iffy, it's been hunted hard for years but it still gives up carved minnies and buttons and some silver and IH's.
About dark I got out the F LTD to try for a minute. Man that thing is hard to figure. Only thing I got with it was a penny on top of the ground...
The .22 is old with a nice patina I can't believe I dug it by accident but that's the way this park is. It is half cinder and full of iron. It's fun to hunt because it's always a challenge.
I am having trouble with my uniprobe, I have two wands and both short and give me trouble. I need to remember to send the whole contraption in for service while its still winter.
I have permission for a local church here in Cassville and a friend and I are going to try and get out Friday. If I find anything worth taking a picture of i'll post it!!
