Hi everybody!
I'm getting but haven't got yet a Whites 5900/di pro sl with the stock coil and I was wondering what other coils can I use as far as small coils?
This year I ran into some hunting places where a little sniper coil proved itself worthy and so after that I started looking for little coils for all my detectors. Anyway getting the 5900 I'm looking for information about coils for it as far as,
Model's,
Types,
different sizes,
other brands,
other Whites models that might interchange?
Ect,,,

Thanks!

Mark

Hi Mark,

The Blue Max 600 and Bullseye 5.3 are both 6 1/2 inch concentric coils that will work on your machine. Some of the Blue Max 600s have the old small hole in the mounting ears but can be drilled out to accept the modern hardware. These coils work well in trash and still get good depth.

If you get into extreme trash, you can use a Blue Max 350, a 4 inch concentric coil.

You have to be able to sweep slow to effectively use a 5.3 and especially the 350 while in heavy trash. The higher you can set your SIG. BAL. (while maintaining stability) the slower you will be able to sweep the search coil. Recheck GB after each SIG. BAL. adjustment. Just keep walking it up as high as possible.

I have had 2 of the 4X6 coils for this model and could get very little depth with either so advise avoiding them.

Concerning coil compatibility, any search coil that will work on an XLT will work on your 5900.

Good luck
Bob

Below is a Photo of most of the Factory Coils that will work on your 5900 SL Pro.
Only Coils not shown is the Blue Max 350 snooper coil thats not available anymore
from whites Electronics and the Maroon colored Royal Scan 8" coil.
The 15" Maxima1500 coil is for relic or Cache Hunters wanting
maximum depth and Ground Coverage from their detector. The 8" Blue Max 800 coil
and the Maroon colored ( not shown)Royal scan is for those hunters who want a coil
smaller than the Standard 9.5 coil for general Hunting conditions.
The White colored Blue Max 600, Black colored Black Max 5.3 as well as
Black Colored 5.3 Bullseye are Basically the same coil the white 600 is just older than
the other, but all use the same coil cover. These coils are "Excellent" even for general coin hunting,
The Depth they get is amazing for such a small coil. The advantage of these coils is the ability to turn
up the Signal Balance to a point where you can use a slower sweep speed than the standard 9.5 coil
Then theirs the 3X6 Shooter DD coil that was designed for areas that have a Higher Ground Mineral
than the average, a little small but I will use it for it's narrow scanning field for looking around door
frames of old homes for some stashed coins. I still looking for a 4" Blue Max 350 coil, would most likely
be the better choice if i had to pick between the DD Shooter and the Blue Max 350.
There are also Hotheads, Hotshot,Bigfoot, and others available but harder to find and
costly to acquire one. I feel the Factory Whites Coils will more than do the job!

great machine.... down load the owners manual if one isnt sent with it....you can down load off of whites web site.. 5.3in coil is great for trashy areas... many people including myself say that the origanal thinner 9.5in coil gets better depth than the newer thicker coil..... learn the machine..you will enjoy it...

You mentioned a double DD coil? Will the the 5900 di-Pro sl take a DD coil?

Mark

Hey! I landed a 350 "Snooper Coil" on ebay for $62.00 I could have got it a little cheaper but in the last five minutes of the auction a couple of dollar jumpers jack the price up, but still I think its a good price for a coil that's so hard to find. The pictures of it shows it to be in GREAT condition and it comes with a coil cover. Its been tagged as been shipped, but I haven't got it yet.

Hey Mark

The snooper 350 coil is a good one, but is a little small for the quick sweep speed of the 5900/6000 series in G.E.B. Disc, In the S.A.T. all-metal mode it should work great. The snoopr 350 is more suited for the slow sweep speed Disc.mode of the White's Classic series like the Classic lll SL, Classic ID, Classic IDX and IDX Pro. The snooper 350 will work in the G.E.B. Disc. on your 5900 if you adjust the signal balance past the Pre-set.... setting......quite aways past really,,, and still be able to ground balance the 5900. With the signal balance adjusted 'Hot' you can slow down your sweep speed some, but not as slow of a sweep as a Classic series.

Well the little snooper coil arrived today and there is NO signs of it ever being mounted or used! The coil or the coil cover doesn't look to have ever touched the ground. They're isn't even any signs of it being bolted to the mounting stem either. Except for a real test run I'm pretty happy with the deal.

Gee I wish Whites re-designed/modify there the 10" D2 or even the 6 x 10 that runs on the Spectra V3's and use them on the XLT or XL Pro running at 6.592 kHz. Sure the Shooter Coil is fine around fences, posts and tot lots, but I think it is limited in depth.

jmho,
