I'm confused about the M6

I'm confused about the M6.

Some folks say the M6 will not go deep
others say it will hit a dime at a foot any day of the week.
which is it true.

I've also heard the tone Id is so so any truth to that?

Thanks for sharing any experience you have with the M6

Some folks will say anything......... Really, everyone could be right....... it might not go deep for HIM, (bad machine or bad operator) and yes it will hit a dime at 12 inches under the right conditions, (re: white sand beach). In some very mineralized ground, 6 inches is considered deep and the M6 should be able to do that. For a mid priced coin detector, the M6 is about as good as you can get.

Confusion about any make and model will happen because it is often just personal opinion you happen to read. Add to that the comments sometimes made by people who like to add their 2

What do you say after reading Monte's post??I do not think you could say anything else.....that's about as accurate and informative as you'll ever read. All i can add is that i have used an M6 and found it to be a cracking all round machine......even the salt mode was good on the beaches in the wet sand. The only thing i would have changed is the stem set up......i like the set up on the mxt better....all the weight of the rod and coil is under your hand rarther than on top of it.This, for me at least, makes it better balanced and easier to swing for longer periods. That aside i could'nt really fault it.Ever thought about writing a book Monte.....a lot of detectorists would benefit from your experience and knowledge.

Hello and good luck on the M6 . I use one all the time and love it . I am a older man and its just a pleasure for me to use on a daily schedule . I have owned several higher end detectors and I ended up coming back down a little to the M6 because it better suited my hunting style I like the different tone ID's and its very accurate . As for the depth it does great I have only dug one target a foot deep here in the midwest and it was a door off of a wood stove . We don't usually dig smaller targets like coins that deep here in the midwest . I do have some old homesteads that the targets are at 7 to 8 inches on a regular basis , but normally targets the size of coins aren't that deep around here but it depends on the type of soil and if there's a lot of trash and targets that haven't been there long enough to sink very deep . If there's targets that haven't been there a long time and haven't had time to sink deep they will mask some of the deeper targets that's why they say go slow and low . I know Monte likes the smaller coils , well I do but I use a SEF 8X6 DD coil most of the time and it works real well for me on most hunts .
Good luck and good hunting .

Hi HH,both Larry and Monte seem to be the wise men of metal detecting...perhaps they should get together and write a book......now that would be worth a read:thumbup:

I hunt with an mxt and bought my wife a m-6 she outhunts me most of the time and gets deeper targets. I get false signals sometimes she never does. I personally think the M-6 is the best coin machine White ever made. It is the easiest to use as well and the coils are interchangable with the mxt that I use.
