I'm Back

Rob (IL)

New member
I just got back home from my 3 month winter in Texas. Hunting wasn't anything special, the usual clad, a gold ring and nice knife. I can't complain after the winter we had in Illinois. It's nice to be back on the forum. Rob

Welcome back to reality Rob! The weather is cold, the ground is muddy. Hopefully we'll be out detecting soon. Nancy

I checked your other post. Nice finds for the beginning of the season. It's not as wet up here. I just drove through the rain in Missouri and southern Illinois getting home yesterday. It was dry here.

I see you got a toy hauler. I just drove 3000 miles with my fifth wheel and the new diesel prices. The prices in Oklahoma where 35 cents cheaper for gas and 45 cents cheaper for diesel. I'm determined that I'm not staying home. I'll find the money somewhere. What kind of site did you find the lock etc. ? Rob

With diesel prices heading towards $5.00 a gal by this summer let me know where you find your money so I can look their to. LOL HH Dennis in Idaho[quote rcasio44]I checked your other post. Dennis, I'm 63 and retired. If its a choice of fishing and metal detecting for the winter or sitting in the house for the winter, I choose to leave. If I have to work part time to pay for fuel I will.

When I'm home I drive a car that gets 30+ miles per gallon. The pick up will pretty much pull the 5th wheel. I see guys younger than me in the obits. Llfe is too short. Rob

I hear ya Rob! It doesn't matter the cost of gas as long as you're having a good time, living life and enjoying every minute of it!

I found the lock in a private yard here in Eureka. I think there were a few silvers and quite a few wheats pulled out as well. The weather has been messy here lately, but hopefully we'll be out and about soon with the detectors in hand. For me it's been a long uphill battle with my asthma.......but I'm winning!!! Soon I'll be out there swinging my MXT and finding those treasures again.

HH to you and welcome home! Nancy

It's always nice to hear from you. I've hit a park and sports field since I got back. Just the usual clad but it's better than being inside. I forgot to ask how deep were the coins? Rob

Rob,
It's great that you're getting out and cleaning those sport fields of the clad. Hey, it all adds up and it's fun too! I thought about hitting some playgrounds around here this weekend if the weather permits. It's so nice that Larry doesn't mind humoring me. He'll go about anywhere. What a guy!!!! We're to get a lot of rain the next few days. Rather have that than snow. Oh, maybe I shouldn't say that four letter word. :surrender: They say we might get some of it Saturday.

The coins that were found in the same yard as the Eagle lock weren't deep at all. I bet the deepest was only 5" if that. The ground is prime for digging.

Hopefully the year 2008 will open up new firsts for everyone.

HH to all.........Nancy
