I got back today-I went to Tawas, didnt find much-AND,I discovered my waders leak-oh well-THEN;I got back today -the sidewalks are about half torn up-I asked the guy in charge-He said the magic words:You can detect anywhere there is no work going on....:razz::spin:WELL,OFF I WENT!!!...WHAT DID YA FIND,YA ASK???:rofl:WELL,LET ME TELL YA!!:3-Indian head pennies-1 a 1900,the other 2 unreadable-1-1889 Liberty Head nickel;1-1919 Wheat penny-All of the above are not in very good shape-lotsa corrosion-AND,last but not least-a 1854 Seated Libery Quarter:clapping:HOWEVER:somebody in the past ground off the reverse of it;and had the initials G L engraved on it;in that old flowing script they used way back then for engraving.(maybe a Civil War good luck token?)The BEST news is that they have only half of them doneIm going back later tonite when they have them all ripped up-some advice; When you are detecting new ground;SLOW DOWN!!....half of these coins I did not find until I went over the areas more than once....:geek::OI shall return later tonite-so tune in-I will be back....:chase::rofl:

Much better to find leaks in waders when the water is warm instead of cold. Congrats on the finds. Ya done good. Did you use the water machine on the land or a different one for the walks? Just curious.

That seated qtr is a love token. A very cool find! :) WTG!!!!!
Bring it to the hunt!

I went up later, only found 1-indian head penny....I have to wait until tomorrow-thats when they will have the last of the sidewalks torn up-about another 75-100 feet or so...Cant post a pic of that quarter, but I will have it with me at the forum hunt...... Also, went to see my oldest sister today -she is staying with my other sister-she is leaving for Texas tomorrow morning....She is strong;she will be all right....Her ex is telling lies about her;its a big mess:sad:I told my sister The Truth Will Prevail-Let the LORD direct your steps, and you will be allright!!!She told me she trusts in the Lord to see her through -she is taking the train to Texas-her daughter is there...I might go see her around Christmas,I think...

I used a Fisher 1280x in the water,a Whites 5900 di pro plus on the sidewalks---Imagine that-defacing a good piece of silver like that Seated Liberty Quarter, all in the name of love!!!:blink:So tell me,would they have done that to give to the Civll War soldiers going off to war,to remember them by???Back then,a quarter would have bought a lot-it seems like;to me;a waste of a good coin;when it could have been used for vitals.I also know there are Civil war veterans in the cemetary of this town;1 or 2,I think...Maybe I should investigate...

A lot of things never seem to make sense - more so now than back then - but it must have meant something more to them that the value it held to buy things like you mentioned.
