I left the ranks of the Explorer users by selling my Explorer 2. Planning to retire from detecting altogether and take up bicycling more seriously. HA!!
I Kept checking out and reading detecting forums and ignoring the bicycle forms. Kept scanning the classified forum, eBay and craigslist...not just for bikes.but also Metal detectors.
Still thinking I wanted a new highend bicycle I saw my funds from the Explorer's sale slowly dwindle down.....I needed to do something before the funds
disappeared all together. Grabbing my trusty Ace 250 I went to a local park for a fix. Found a gold plated ring.......Next day jumped on my current bicycle
for a nice morning ride. Rode about a hundred yards and then turned around and headed home. You guessed it. Parked the bike and grabbed the Ace for another hunt.
Found another gold plated ring that day. So...I decided to get another detector. But @#%&!! now my son needs two new tires on his car. Tread separation and he's broke.
Enough! I have to act fast! I wanted another Tesoro ever since i bought the Explorer.....(Deeeeep seeker but man was she heavy!) New was out of the question!
Need a unit with GB capabilities. ( I strongly believe a machine performs better with GB capabities.) Finally found a old Bandido ll uMax on eBay....Won it, for way too
much if you ask me but it's what I wanted in a detector. Light....GB'able....and a lifetime warranty. This will be my third Tesoro for me during my Metal Detecting
Career. My first was a Toltec 100....then a lobo ST...and now the Bandido....
Over the years i evolved into a all metal, the meters wrong kinda guy..dig it all. But I did develop a bad habit with the Explorer. I only dug one kind of signal.
The high fluty weaker tones. I found lots of silver this way but never any gold. So I think I have enough silver coinage now. Time to work on the gold
collection....So look for those Dang posts again. That's after my Bandido arrives!

Welcome back! I bet that's the Bandido II uMax that I watched too. If it is, it looked really clean. Congrats on getting it!

Looking forward to hearing how you do with the Bandido II uMax.

I was swinging the EX-II mostly also before trying a Tesoro - man what a weight/balance difference. But I still have the Explorer. Then I added a hand full of Tesoro's since that first Cibola which I still have.
I like to bike also, but don't have the energy or will power, and I go too far for peddling. So now my way of doing it sometimes makes it easier, and one of the advantages of the light Tesoro break-down is the package size can fit in my luggage bags or large sissy bar touring bags which I can throw on the bike - a little gas - extra snacks & drinks - detecting accessories - and with the size of the Tesoro helps make it all happen.
My lazy way of doing it I guess. And the bike makes it fun going out looking for new spots to later try - or spots to avoid.
Congrats on the Bandido - I also have the Bandido-II but take my smaller uMax Tesoro's when the bike gets used.

Good to have you back on the Forum, the detector is a way better choice than bike riding here are a few pointers,
1 You will never fall off your detector and Hurt your good self,
2 You do not need a Bell on your detector to warn of your approach,
3 In West Australia i need to wear a Hemet to ride a Bike, no helmet req for detector use yet, (Big cost Save )
4 How would the Bike help you find all that good stuff the Detector helps you find ?,
5 Get your son to get rid of his car, then give him your bike Problem solved, no petrol req and he can go were he wants to,
6 If you fall over your detector its your fault your clumsy,
7 If you fall off your bike could be oil on the road for example, not your fault,
8 Tight pants , don't care what anyone says tight pants can be fatal, the sort you use for Bike Riding.
9 You can lift a detector more easy over your head than your bike, and if the bike slips when being lifted over your head it could stuff up big time your Hair Style,Scars on the head are not nice,
10 Bet you hate me don't you ?
