and IMO would recomend that you run the machine in discriminate mode until you get a real feel for the tones. I had a terrible time trying to use the iron mask mode because it was just too much information in my ear. By using the suggestions in the Sabisch book for custom discriminate programs I was able to learn the good and bad target sounds much faster. I also tested it in my coin garden with coins at 8.5 - 9.0 inches and could still hear all of them. Now that I have a couple of months under my belt I'm going back and forth between modes slowly learning what all of the information in my ear is telling me. My old machine was a DFX and the tones that sounded good on that machine were all the sounds the explorer makes, talk about confusion.
