Up early and checked the Forum for inspiration..drank a pot and out the door before the traffic lights go green and red. Theres something about driving through town under the traffic lights flashing yellow and being on the beach before the sun comes up. Big surf, rescue squad divers suiting up and Coast Guard chopper in the air at dawn, lost a girl to the rip late yesterday and the search resumed at dawn, still searching when I left. Hit the dry with the F70 and got a couple bucks of clad, a couple of beers (always appreciated), a bucks worth of emptys, and sunglasses. Found a small cut the rip carved out and got in there with the Pro, water very warm and comfortable, hit this Thessalonians sterling ring in there, about the 4th one of these I've found in the past few years.. Hard scooping with the waves being so tight together and angry, deep targets were tough to get as the hole filled in so fast...wind turned out of the east, biting flys came pouring out of the dunes at sun up and drove me off, theres no amount of repellent that discourages them, they appear to be the ordinary house fly, but they swarm and bite harder than any other bug I've been bit by to date, and that's saying something!. Gotta be neck deep, heavy onshore wind, or go home, and the rip was too strong to be neck deep this am...no gold today but I'll take it. Hope everyone is well, shame this Big Lake took such a young person again.

Sorry to hear about the young lady, the surf can be a creature in itself.

Good you got out and enjoyed, I too just returned from a 4 day stay at the beach, no gold but the sites, sounds and time spent searching for treasures sure cleans a mind out of all the daily issues of life. Be Safe MP

This happened quite a bit when I lived at PCB, Fl in the early 80's. Tourists would get to drinking and smoking and ignore the red flags and you would have another tragedy. Glad you found something worthwhile. Be careful & happy hunting.

a lot tourists down here treat the ocean like a swimming pool.:nono:

Take extreme care when handling "found" beer in bottles!!

I always carefully check the contents for good, clean beer smell before tasting!!!

Recovered one from the water a few days ago that looked too yellow and wasn't beer!!

There are some sickos out there Friend,

CJ

It was Corona too!!

What? Oh, yeah!, Regarding corona, That's what limes are for, to knock out the aftertaste!

What was it the Trojans said: Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. What did the Indian say when he saw a yellow river? Whoo-pee?

My thoughts go to the family of the little girl, such a shame. Well done mud with the ring and beers, you did better than me! That's a mean trick to play with a corona bottle, glad you spotted it CJ!
It sounds dangerous where you are Mud, and the flies sound bad. Someone on here must know what keeps em off? I hope it's not fake corona! Ha! Ha! Good luck mate!

Hey Mud, the good bad and the ugly. Congrats on the finds. Seems the visual aspect of your hunt was overshadowed by the hard reality of life and how caution still needs to be drawn in the good times as well as in trying times. Hope your hunts continue to be blessed. Prayers go out to the young girls family. George S
