We are blessed in this part of our great country to have such variety. Plus, I stay ready to take pictures at any given moment, and have feeders set up at very convenient places. I just enjoy observing God's creation.
This is the Red Bllied Woodpecker, which lives here year round.

Pileated woodpecker...they get to be up to 15 inches in length. The have a strong drumming sound...like a jackhammer on a tree. Most times people hear them and rarely see them. We have had the pleasure of one on a tree in our backyard. He wasn't 15 inches though but definitely a Pileated woodpecker.
