iFinder H2O map detail question

I have two questions about the Lowrance iFinder H2O.

1. What kind of map detail does the built-in background map have? Does is show only major highways or does it also show small back roads too?

2. How important do you think a color display is? Is it worth the extra $100?

Thanks!,
John

The build in map gives only major roads.

If you like maps, especially topo maps, without color you are missing another dimension. To me, it's well worth the extra $. If you are using receiver just for driving around with road maps, color helps but is not essential.

Thanks Andrew. Sounds like I should look at the color plus version that comes with the MapCreate software.

One review I read mentioned some problems with the integrity of the iFinder's case. The reviewer said his unit had already developed a crack in the battery cover latch. Do you have any opinions about this?

John

I never heard of such a problem so I suspect that it's not normal.
I've used a number of Lowrance receivers and never had problems with cases. I don't particularly like the battery covers on the iFinders but I've seen worst.
