Just picked up the Explorer 2 a couple of weeks ago. I had a whites in the past, so Im trying to get used to my new machine. I was wondering what the iffy tones sound like. Is it a broken tone that registers high and to the right? an inconsistent tone? hope my question is clear to you guys..I have alot to ask! Thanks in advance <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

A good target will most often have a consistent tone. It is the inconsistent ones that are the iffy. I guess in a way it is tone that want to sound good but seems to break up. I have found coins close to iron and could hear a high tone but also low ones. On the digital screen I could see a 3/28 showing up but not as solid as those times when it locks right on. That is what I call iffy in that I hear the good tone in there but not locked on real tight.
