IFFY signal=deep wartime nickel

Hunted an old park Sunday with some friends. They were getting really deep stuff (including a rare trade token) with the Explorer and Sovereign. They had me check some of their deep signals with the 70 and for the most part all I could get were very faint sounds and maybe a non-repeatable TID if I really went slow. The kinds of signals I have typically ignored...

Being a little frustrated, I went off looking for one of these type signals. I got a faint signal that with A LOT OF WORK bounced between 38, 20, and 36. The depth indicated 8 plus inches. In pinpont, the target was more stable and the depth still indicated 8 plus. Anyway, at around 8-9 inches I found this 1943 S nickel. I learned alot today about what I've been passing up!

Nice. Like Digger says," You never know until you dig it". HH Dennis in Idaho

I've learned that I don't consider any signal that bounces in positive numbers, especially the twenties and thirties to be iffy. Dig them all. You'll find more nickels this way.

I was using the 7.5 khz standard, sens 29, pattern 3 modified to accept all but #48, and double checking targets in all metal. Really thinking about getting the 3 khz to see if it improves my chances on deep coins. Anyone have advice on this?
