If you want to see how variable the targets can be

just look through the patterns preloaded.. and why is it the nail and crown cap pattern are set to accept them not reject? or am I missing somethiong again? I cant reverse them like I could with the explorer, unless I have to load them and then use edit?

I noticed that too. Also this isn't an American machine. I am still trying to grasp what there is to offer. Were not pulling Celtic coins or hammered Romans. Were a young country at most when detecting were seeing 100+ years, not a thousand years. That's why Fisher, Whites and Garret,Tesoro design the detectors the way they do. We as users have to cut though the BS and find out what works for us here. I'm tipping my hat to Jim.

I think the idea was to use the coin program for coins and then allow anyone who is looking for more items to combine them into the coin mode and that will accept those items, along with what the coin mode is set to accept. At least I think that's what they are doing???? Kinda backwards for what I want to do. HH

you need to go to combine screen, select the one you want and push the reject button, that switches from accept to reject then detct and load it.. sheeew.. you would think the presets would just be set to reject in the first place... maybe for poeple looking for nails to build a house or something :)

Again around the world setting not just here in the USA

to run wide open and select a crown cap reject screen then to have to do it thru the combine screen menu... if your combining fone, but a simple reject of one thing would be more likely to be used in the select screen options.. same with nails.. the preset is accept and no way to change it except thru combine...

and pretty sure the crown caps are the same... the explorer nail reject pattern is a small portion of the upper left, crown caps a little to the lower right... I think they made it for around the world too :)

I agree that this coin program seems to be set up for many different type of coins but here in the states, most of the silver coins hit high in conductive. Just listen for the high tone and check either the smart find or number (depending on your preference) and dig if it meets your criteria. Maybe I am doing something wrong but that is the way I have been hunting and have had what I consider great success, finding silver dimes, quarters and half dollars. Hell, if I am lucky I will get 50 silvers this year and 300 wheaties along with the assorted trash. That is a HUGE improvement over last year AND the last quarter of this year has been a HUGE improvement over the first 3 quarters of this year. TMAN...

but theres more to detecting than just those, at least for me.. I am in an old area, my parks can have lots of good coins that read low.. like 3 centers etc.. buttons etc etc.. and I find myself doing just what you are doing.. only going after high conductors cause way too much trash mixed in with the other coin readings in the parks

I understand now what you are dealing with. I hunt in 4 tones and will dig all repeatable signals in the highest tone. I will also dig the next highest tone depending on the depth. I have snagged an indian and old deep wheaties with readings in the 30s. Coins should read in that range in up due to conductivity I would think. I may be wrong but its like ring hunters, they dig a lot of aluminum and foil for those shiny pretty things. Maybe its the price of finding those odd old coins. In my area I would be lucky to find a seated coin so I am focusing on the high tones and hoping silver pops out of those mid depth holes, like today. I got a 34 quarter banging at 12-47 at 4 inches. Ya just never know I guess. TMAN...

Absolutely! I would like to just punch out nails and continue hunting! Make it easy. If I don't like crown caps, then let me reject them instantly too. I guess it's just more work the way they have it. Wondering if I should just start with an open screen and find targets I think will be a nail, don't dig them, latch on to them and set it to reject that target(before I dig it) and complete my screen as I go. Kind of building a custom program as I hunt. It would be a very targeted nail rejection program, specific to each area I hunt. What do you think??? Will it work?

learn how to use the features like combine and save. I never think about it until I am out in the field and then I can't figure out how to edit and save a pattern, much less combine...

Tomorrow...

I found that not only the manual but watching the videos on the E-Trac helped me out alot. They make it alott more simple to uderstand how to setup and use the combine.
