If you think the GBSE is hot on small brass buttons..you oughta see what it does on pewter

Anyone who digs pewter buttons knows these can be tough little targets. They are always corroded and in my area atleast....half the button is usually corroded away. many times these can come in low and read as iffy iron. However the SE loves these.
When I dug that 2 Sous yesterday I also dug several small pewter Rev War era buttons. Now these were not shallow and most were down in the 7" range. They came through nice and clear even though they were small and half rotted.
While 7" may not seem impressive it is with pewter buttons....they are a tweaky target and like to bounce between iron and tabs or so.
These three buttons and spoon handle end I dug in an area that had been hunted hard...this whole Rev War camp has been beat senseless by myself and by others years before me. Most everything is gone now...all that is left are those small targets that are iffy or mixed in iron.
Now pics of the buttons as they are just stumps of what they were.
