if you planning a trip out side the u.s. starting in janurary you will need a pass port, even on a cruise ship, costs about $ 100 and takes 6 weeks

Yeah the new system is a pain in the butt. It is a good idea in a the sense of giving terrorists one more piece of I.D. to forge and possibly get caught, but the cost is a pain. I know many students have gone to Canada up here and have ad trouble all ready. I talked to a few Canadian students and shoppers here and they say they would rather shop in Canada come January than go thru the hassle of getting a Visa. It will hurt some of the business on our borders.
