If you had to choose ?

Which detector would you choose? Whites MXT or a Tesoro Cortes.

If I could only have one, I'd definitely go with the MXT due to the auto ground tracking and the 3 different modes. For just fun swinging and if I really wanted a lighter weight machine for parks etc, I'd consider the Cortez. I do have an MXT and DeLeon and have done well with both, but the ground tracking issue in areas with mineralization favors the MXT. They both have an excellent selection of available coils so that's pretty much a push. JMHO

Thanks for the reply. I have the MXT but ive always liked the old tesoros. Im kinda thinkin that the lcd screen detectors arent what thier cracked up to be.

I've done well with the Eldorado

Depends what you want to use it for but as probability meters are more possibility than probability I would take the final step and go for the non metered Tejon (UK Pro version that combines fixed and adjustable ground balance). Or look at similar European "Tesoro type" from Golden Mask, Rutus etc.

Well 2kool

The Cortes has an lcd screen, just different from your MXT. If you think lcd screen detectors are'nt what they are cracked up to be, just cover the MXT meter with an improvised covering, ie.black colored plastic bag, paper bag or non-sticky residue tape etc. This could save you some dinero in the long run, and get used to the audio of the MXT and understand it's language much better.
