If You Had The Choice, Would You Metal Detect Using "AUDIO MODULATION" Turned On Or Off?

Audio modulation is basically a setup on metal detectors where the target response audio is affected by the distance of the target to the coil. So.....the closer the target to the coil, the greater (louder) the audio response. The further the distance from the coil, the less (quieter) the audio strength. Both have their benefits.

On, I can tell more about a target. With it off, the loudness causes many more targets to sound the same. Give me that nice sweet faint whimper. HH jim tn

It depends... and I find both modes to be productive. It depends on headphone comfort/fatigue.

I generally prefer audio modulation "ON" while hunting but If I decide to hunt for a while without headphones, I sometimes switch to STD mode because I fee I'll otherwise be missing those soft toned targets.. I have good success with audio modulation "OFF" (STD mode) because I don't mind digging everything (just like the old ACE days).

I like the modulation ON but truly wish Garrett would include a volume control. I have hearing loss and feel I am missing out on the faint deeper finds. If they included a volume control, I could turn the blast limiter switch to ON ( Sunray Pro Gold) and adjust the knobs on the headphone to a comfortable level.
