Hi all.

I am in a dilemma,i have the fbs slimline coil and the original explorer coil in a cream colour, out of the two which would you keep as one has to go.
Just the original i would of thought wont be as good as the slimline but is this really the case?

Thanks Gary

My answer is "C"......

Sell them both on eBay for what ever you can get, and then go to KellyCo and purchase yourself a 10" X 12" SEF coil. I believe they are compatable with all Explorers. I personally have read a lot of negatives on the FBS coils, and I believe they are newer than your cream colored one. If you want to refresh or renew your detector without purchasing a new one, I'd recommend the SEF coil. I sold my FBS coil to my Explorer last year, I ended up getting around $50 for it, maybe you get another $35 for your other coil. A new 10X12 is 169.95. so you'd be in it for around $100. Don't buy on line, but call. Push for some sort of deal, I would say free shipping and as much off the coil price as they can swing.

This one is starting at 152.95 with free shipping. aardvarkmetaldetectors is basically KellyCo's Ebay store. I don't think you'd get much argument from them if you called up and asked for this coil for 152.95 with free shipping since that's what they are offering on line.

Anyway, probably not the answer you were looking for, but my two cents. :)

If you want to keep one and sell the other one and not buy a new one then i would think the original cream color one would be the one I would keep. JamesND that really finds the coins has 2 of the XS (cream color) one as he really like them and did excellent with them compared to the Slimline. He now uses, plus his hunting buddie which is also one of the top guy around both use the new 11 inch Pro coils which I also highly recomend for finding the good targets. If you are new to the Explorer sometimes a smaller coil will do better for you as it will help on the learning of it as it seperates good and I know the Joey and the X-8 of Sun Rays come close to the depth of the stock coils.

Thanks guys :) that was my thoughts too,im sure i heard somewhere the slimline was not too hot.
