If you could only have one coil; which one and why?

Just curious; if you had to trim down to just one coil for the explorer, which one would it be and why?

Without a doubt the stock 10.5 inch coil that came on the Early XS-XSII.
It offers excellent depth and its separation is fantastic. Not to mention its a smooth acting coil.
Oh lets not forget I have used mine for over a decade and its still working perfect. What more could you ask for?
Although in extreme trashy areas I use the 8" FBS and have used the WOT for fields although its a tad cumbersome weight wise.
I reckon it comes down to personal preference though but, thats my two cents.

I have heard a few folks talk about their 10.5" coil being the coil of choice or the best FBS coil ever made. My buddy who uses a Quattro with that coil gets some of the deepest coins I have seen.

Without a doubt if I am swinging an Explorer its most likely has the 10.5 on it. If I swing the SE Pro I even swap out the PC for the 10.5 because I like it better.
Cant knock the 8" FBS coil either IMHO.

n/t

I agree on the X8 but its been so long since I used the stock 10.5" so I am gonna have to put that on again and hunt it. I think the main reason I took it off was weight.

How do you think the 6 x 8 SEF stacks up against the X-8? I currently have the 6 x 8 and it is my favorite coil. It goes pretty deep for a mid sized coil. Is the X-8 that much better?

I think seperation is about the same but find the x8 a little deeper and also its got a lighter feel to it. The minelab 8" coil performs like the x8 but its got a heavier feel to it.
