Got about a foot of snow during the last 3-4 days with temperatures hitting the -20's with the wind. The snows too deep right now for land hunting, and the snow hills are just beginning to get used by tobogganers, snow boarders and skiers. Pretty soon it will be snow hunting time. However, while waiting for coins to fall out of pockets, it's time to drill, cut, pound. burr and polish.

Hit a coin show and spent about $150.00 on tokens, hammered silver and some silver coins to make some rings out of. Hope you enjoy the pics. There are a lot of links to help you make your own coin rings on the internet.

Excellent craftmanship as always, John!

:thumbup:Nice ones John.

You sure are good at making those rings! I need to get into doing that. A few months ago I found a toonie with the middle missing, so I tried to make it into a ring. It didn't exactly work lol! I will have to get the proper tools and do it right...

The coin show was here this weekend....I bought a bunch of silver coins and these HBC. They are getting quite valuable. I have yet to find a HBC token.

That outer circle on the toonies is made out of nickel which is a very hard metal to work with. You have to heat it with a torch to form it on a mandrel, otherwise you will ruin your equipment. Try using a clad US quarter....they are easy to work with. :)

Those Hudson's Bay Co. tokens are very cool! Lots of history there.

It sure would be neat if you made a video and showed us how this is done. Looks like it would be fun to do when you are stuck inside!

Hey John, how well does a shotgun shell base work? I have some very nice old examples I've been eyeballing for a project like this, if I can just find the time...

Very interesting and beautiful indeed. Not sure if I could actually turn the coins into rings though, it would be hard to convert them because the coins are so cool in the first place.

This is an amazing job.
I've heard of these rings made from coins.
My grandfather made a ring being prisoner of war in our last civil war but never get to see it.
I've always been interested in how to do it.
Can you give me some information, links or something when I take the position?
Eternally grateful.
Best regards, Senda.
