If You Are Searching For A New Pinpointer, Check Out The New PRO-POINTER II:surrender:

Compared to the original PRO-POINTER, the new PRO - POINTER II has a hole to attach a lanyard, auto shut off, chirps for an hour if you lose it turned on so you can find it, is more sensitive, more durable and costs less then the PRO-POINTER AT. Check out my quick video below:

Good video John,

Not surprising that they would do this. The original Pro Pointer seems to have caused them a lot of grief and customer dissatisfaction.

Since it's gott fixed sensitivity, how does it's depth depth compare to the AT version ?

I hope it costs a LOT less than the AT version because it's not waterproof and it appears they've taken out some useful features found in the AT.

If priced reasonably i'd think it could become popular.

The Pro-Pointer II seems to have more sensitivity to targets at a greater distance then the old original Pro-Pointer. The orange Pro-Pointer AT has the best sensitivity in program 3, better then the new Pro-Pointer II. It only operates with both vibrate and audio, and as the original Pro-Pointer, to reduce the audio, you cover up that little speaker hole. Covering part of the pin-pointer with a cut section of a bicycle inner tube works great.

Thanks for the good info John

I see the Pro Pointer II being sold/advertised for about $110 and with the Pro Pointer AT at $129.

At that price point "I" would spend the extra $20 and get the more versatile AT version (no offense intended just my opinion).

Thank you for posting this, John. When it comes to comparing the original Pro Pointer to the Pro Pointer AT; little comparison, The AT being more sensitive and waterproof to 10 feet, wow, well worth the tiny extra. My AT has been "abused" this year in ~7 feet saltwater, ~7 feet freshwater, rocks, zebra mussels, and sloppy mud, and it keeps on beeping. Love it!

If the GPP2 is gonna be sold for $110 one of two things are gonna happen to the GPP:
1) Its price will be lowered
2) It will be discontinued.

Good question. Time will tell.

My GPP is a little over a year old (probably a fairly recent production model) and to it's credit, It has gotten a ton of use and I've never experienced any of the failures or falsing which seem to be the common complaint with the early units. I've always felt it's sensitivity was quite acceptable. But... the AT is all around a much nicer unit with its added functionality (my personal favorite being the "one touch re-tune" without having to turn it off and on to re-tune).

Thanks for posting the video John.
My original Pro pointer is still going strong though. Still no reason to replace it.:)

I like the Garrett Pro Pointer AT (aka Garrett Carrot) a lot, the additional depth it gets over the original Pro Pointer is a definite plus. Also the power being concentrated through the lower part of the shaft as well as the tip gives it an advantage for me over White's TRX for flap plug retrievals, although I prefer the concentrated tip power of the TRX for probe coin pops.

As far as the Pro Pointer 2 having more sensitivity than the original PP, I don't see that in the video. The air test looks like about 1 3/8" off the tip on a dime which is the same as I get with the original Pro Pointer.

The chirp for an hour is a good thing in my book when the pinpointer is black and not orange and while I appreciate the easy to find aspect of the Carrot, I'd prefer if it wasn't orange.

John, is the volume on the PP2 louder than the original like the Carrot is?
