They still carry this coil along with all the others including the round Excelerators. However, I've noticed that unlike the 15x12 the 12x10 only shows up in a certain spot on their site for the Sovereign. You had to look around and click on various ways to get to the coils to see the 12x10 listed. I called KellyCo because I had concerns that maybe they weren't selling it anymore. The guy told me that he also has trouble when he wants to find it on their site but that it isn't being discontinued or anything. He said the 15x12 for the Sovereign is probably their best seller for it, but then added that perhaps the reason for that is that costumers aren't seeing the 12x10 unless they look in the right place. I agreed and told him they need to fix that problem. He said it's not just that coil, that certain other products on their site can be very hard to find because they don't show up in certain spots like they should for some reason. Just figured I'd let you guys know who might be looking to get this coil. If you look hard enough you'll find it, or you can call them to order it. I think it's $169 plus $14 shipping, which is pretty good for such an awesome coil if it's as good as my 15x12.
I am in the market for a used one but will order a new one if I can't find one used soon. I'm anxious to see if it might get deeper than the 15x12 at least in high minerals due to the 12x10 seeing less ground matrix. Everything I've read by people says the 15x12 is deeper on coin sized targets, but in really rough ground I wonder about that. Not that the 15x12 doesn't run smooth, but perhaps it just is taking too much in when there are very high minerals. Still have to prove that for myself one way or another yet, so I have no evidence either way. The 12x10 is said to be deeper than the 10" GT or Explorer coils as well as deeper than the 11" Pro Coil on the Etrac. The 15x12 is said to be slightly deeper on coins, but the 12x10 gets a half inch deeper on a cut quarter penny, which is REAL tiny. The old rule of thumb is that a smaller coil can get deeper in high minerals or trash than a larger coil. For instance, in really bad ground a 6" coil might get deeper than a 10" coil due to the matrix. This could hold true for the SEF's as well.
On another note, I asked the salesman if they had any scratch-n-dent SEF coils for sale at a lower price, since they offer a 30 (60?) day gurantee in which you can ship any coil back if you don't like it minus a re-stocking fee. He told me that any returned coils are sent back to Detech. Now, I highly doubt it but wouldn't it be nice to find an outlet somewhere that sells returned Detech coils. Call them factory "refurbished" (meaning tested to make sure they are OK) and sell them for half price or something. I'm sure they all go straight to the dump, though. Man, I'd like to take a look around in their dumpster. Anybody live in that country?
