put a small part of their energy/effort into adapting their headphones to work with the CTX they wold no longer have a problem. It took me less than 5 min. each to make my grayghosts and pro golds work and did no soldering or wire cutting and no adapter.I am just a high school educated hillbilly of 47 years of age and did not feel taxed at all in my modifications endeavor
I have no use for the external speaker so I did the wire wrap in the adaptor, another 5 minute job and all headphones that I have work. Back to original, another 5 minutes and unwrap the wire.
I really forgot how to solder and I don't have the equipment. It would be a lot easier for 1 engineer to write a software fix for 1000 people than for 1000 people to try fixing theirs.
Instead of the consumer finding the solutions, Minelab should if possible, regardless of fault.
Minelab has the solution. Use their headphones or use the WM 10 module with any headphones you desire. Don't get me wrong I too have GG, Pro Gold, and Killer Bs. But JMHO Minelab has in the last 5 years has lost a lot of money to other companies making coils and HP's that did not pay anything to ML for R&D. They have made an excellent detector and I think their accessories should be used if at all possible. HH

You keep mentioning a software fix like it is a given it is possible. That is something only Minelab knows I would think.
This topic has been beat to death.....it's time to go detecting and have some fun.

I went detecting yesterday actually, got a little on film. Pulled another coin from an area I had "cleaned out".
Do you know if a software fix is possible? I don't, but I did some research that seems like it might be, so I'm going to go down that road until I have a better answer than "It's not our responsibility".
I just wrote Minelab regarding this issue and they gave me a very general answer with a No and said it was a hardware issue. But they conveniently avoided my questions with very specific language
.
Are you affected? I have a very limited budget (I know, hard to believe that I have a CTX) and it is a bit disheartening to hear that the Company that sold me a 2000 Euro machine is not taking any responsibility nor addressing my actual questions.
I am loving the CTX, but that doesn't mean I can't or shouldn't speak up regarding problems that we (those with the starter pack) have.
