If Tesoro was smart...................

............ they would put an 8" coil on their Compadre..............but they won't so I and many others won't buy one!!! A 5" baby coil is fine for tot lots but....... useless on the beach. I'd like to get one for the dry sand areas but wish they would offer an 8" coil option.

...........they would make the Tejon with an adjustable notch and tones like the Golden uMax. The Golden is a great machine but lacks the depth of the newer* models.

* if you can call any Tesoro "newer"!!

..........they would make waterproof detectors like that new Garrett everyone is fawning over. It's a great concept. A land detector that can be out in the rain, get hosed down when it's muddy, and can go in the water occasionally. I wouldn't mind going in the water once in a while, but I sure don't think I would spring for a Tiger Shark or Sand Shark for the once or twice a year I wouldn't mind trying it.

p.s. Ivan, I didn't mean to hijack your topic, it's just that that is such a great title to add our 2 cents worth to!!

........they would make a multipurpose detector that could compete in the marketplace as well as in the field with the AT Pro. Even as good as they are, that's not going to happen with a new beep and dig machine.

I too at first wished they had the changeable coil option for the Compadre when I was buying a new one. Then I thought, well since I hunt trashy land areas and I typically am a small coil user, why not give it a try, after all, looking about the Compadre on Findmall has some pretty satisfied users. Then either I'll like it, mod it with a connector to enable coil swaps, or get rid of it.
I ended up liking it and liking it the way it is. Sure it would me nice to change coils, and I could still do the connector mod, but then again I'd probably use the 5.75 coil 95% + for my use, so then it became no big deal, and I have several other detectors and additional coils for those anyway.
I just wouldn't let the fixed coil become the deciding factor on a purchase. At it's price point, they kept it affordable and although its not loaded with bells & whistles, they did make it effective and didn't cut down on the warranty.
I thought I would do the connector add-on, but it just didn't happen. I would do it if I felt I really need it, and yes I would have paid extra if they had it already done, but no matter, I have no regrets on the purchase. Not disagreeing as it would be nice, but I imagine they did all they could to keep cost as low as possible without sacrificing quality and warranty.
Now if I was mainly a large coil user, I'd mod it or buy another model to fit my needs.
