If Tesoro asked me to design a new machine...

OK, let me first say... this is just for fun, no offence intended... at all. Certainly, after Cazador comes out there will be others. In recent posts, some people have said that Tesoro needs to develop new technology in order to compete, well I don't think so. I think that Tesoro has created several great features placed on different models and that with some tweaking and some combining, really neat models could come forth.

The Outlaw for example is based on the Bandito uMax family, and I would love to see something new based on the Pantera.

Again, this is just for fun and because it is still too could to get out there (I'm bored)...

ASK ME HOW IT WORKS...

I would have them build me one just like the one in your signature...lol

I like it! nice knob layout, my eyes are no the best, looks like a tone switch nice, and what is the top toggle?

Ok, tell us how it works :)

The nobs:

top left nob - Notch level, adjusts the upper end of the notch range when the notch toggle is either in accept or reject. When the notch toggle is in off, a third middle tone is activated and this nob controls the upper end of the conductive range for the middle tone.

middle left nob - Notch width, adjusts the width of the notch window (uses a nob instead of a toggle for fine tuning). By controlling the width, this nob also determines the lower limit of the notch window. When the Notch toggle is off, this nob controls the lower end of the mid tone which is also the upper end of the low tone.

low left nob - Discrimination setting. A low tone will sound on targets above the notch setting up to the setting of the "notch width nob"

______________

top right nob - threshold

middle right nob - sensitivity

lower right nob - ground balance (which works for both all metal and disc modes

------------------------

TOGGLES:

top: frequency adjust (3 options)

mid-left: notch reject/off/accept

mid-right: tones. mono or multi. Multi can be 2 tones (when notch is set for reject or accept, low tone below notch window, high tone above notch window). When the Notch toggle is "off", 3 tones will sound, with a mid tone for the conductive range set by the two notch nobs on the left. NOTE: because the tonal ranges are set by nobs, the disc mode can be manually ground balanced.

lower toggle: mode switch, options are just like the Outlaw.

ONE MORE TOGGLE not shown, is the trigger toggle (like the Tejon) pull back and you get the super tune (when searching in all mode settings). Push toggle forward and you get no motion all metal while searching in disc mode, or, if your searching in either all metal modes, pushing the toggle forward will put you in "Disc" temporarily.

The housing of this machine is the Cortez/Tejon box. It uses 8 AAs for max power. It gives you the depth of a Cortes, and it is a 5-pin coil machine.

I call it the Pantera II

.......half the owners can't figure out to use........or wonder why it won't perform as it should.........hope the Caz doesn't have 12 trimpots inside along with 10 pots outside and a few switches like the one pictured. :surprised:

I'm confused, too much to learn, doesn't look like a fun machine..............LOL

I know 6 nobs and 4 toggles does not look like it, but this is really a very simple machine. It just has lots of options (like hunting with either one tone or 2/3 tones). And choosing the specific size and location of the notch window on the conductive range, or having no notch at all. - Simple!

Just a while back there was a HUGE thread where forum members posted hundreds of ideas for things to add or change on the Tesoro detectors.
But every knob, every switch, and every button adds another circuit so at some point the circuits needed is going to outgrow the control housing. Also, a VAST amount of knobs and switches just loses part of Tesoro's concept of "Simplicity" while at the same time 2/3rds of the controls would end up just parked at some preset position.

For any seasoned tesoro user this would be a dream machine, I want one. If it comes with vaq/tejon depth, i would pay what i had to to get it.

That's it!!! The one I want. I am assuming the top toggle is for multi-frequency? Tesoro, are you watching? Just take your existing technology and make me one. Put a big coil on it like White's did with the MXT and advertise it goes DEEPER than the competition.:clapping: Then sell me the 7" coil at a bargin. It's the one I would use anyway.:cheekkiss:

I explain what each nob/toggle does above. But as this is "make-believe" we are certainly open to different ideas.

.............You are 100% correct..That is why there is far less Tesoro's for sale on any site..Because the machine is...........

Pretty simple fix; add little triangle pointer thingys that indicate preset. More often than not lately, I don't want to think, so presets would be great. However, I would like the capability to adjust when I think I actually know what I am doing on occasion.:sleepy:

Thinking back the Pantera was a great machine. I'll take a Pantera II, when's it coming out?
Knobs and switches are cool, just to make it look like a sophisticated machine to passerby's.
Gotta change the color.
Could it be this is the second model to be produced this year, there was talk of 2 new ones for 2014.

Maybe we can talk them into it!
