We have all these trees and the doves around here like to make their nest on our ferns hanging from the patio or racks where i keep my succulents or in this case on top of my ladder !!!!
I wont be using the ladder for a while i guess...lol
one picture of the whole ladder was taken to give you an idea of where it is etc

I suspect that you are feeding them? We have the doves here too, but most of the nest are in the trees or shrubs, not on a ladder. You will enjoy seeing the babies learning how to fly, but once in awhile you will be heart broken when something bad happens to one of them. Thanks for sharing. Kelley (Texas) :)

I have noticed the same thing with birds over here: they love making nests on the tops of leaning ladders. I moved a ladder just last week and a old nest fell down.

I agree with you, the chores can wait.

The only time I have to remove the nests is when they build them beside or inside the outdoor lights, or near another electrical wire. The danger of a fire is too great.

We must have 15 trees in our yard and they go for the weird spots!!! we love it anyways....when there are eggs , they do not budge even when inches away....

yes, we love them...we dont feed the doves per say but we do have several bird feeder for the generic small birds seen all over the place...we must have 6 bird houses/condos as well and the result is that they keep coming back and sometimes use the same nests...sadly sometimes the mom bird will abandon the next for whatever reason or there will be nest robbers (eggs) or the eggs will somehow hit the ground and break.

my guess is some one had them in the backyards, and there has been a lot of demolition in my area..probably some other reason though.

some places have nets covering areas of building so other birds will not build nests there....i dont get it bu t that is what they do
