If I were a new Christian:

I would be very confused by some of the posts that I have read for the last few days. I have read about Gods goodness, and about how the same God puts us through trials and tribulations to teach us something. I would not serve a God who sent His curses on me for any reason. We are his children, and have the option to walk in his way, or to get off track. When we get out from under his protection, we are open to satanic attack. When we come back into His protection, He restores our blessings.
I may get a lot of flack about this, but so be it. Please, let's not give God credit for our problems. I love every one of you, so please take what I say the right way.
I had a lung cancer the size of a tennis ball three years ago. The smoking for 50 years opened the door so satan could come in and cause the cancer. When the doctors removed the cancer, There was not a trace left, so I didn't have to undergo any treatment. Now that was the GRACE OF GOD. He brought me through the fire without the smell of smoke.
Please Brothers and Sisters, Let us put our mind in gear before we put our mouth in motion. Give credit or blame where it is due.
John:10-10

puddlejumper,

You'll not get flack from me. The "Wheat and the Tares" parable that Jesus taught lets me know that good and evil will exist side by side until He returns for the harvest. The Lord more or less tells us that we're going to have troubles...... "those that suffer persecution for my sake"..... but, He also comforts us in that He tells us that He is always there for us.

I do not believe it is entirely necessary for us to turn from God for the troubles to be present in our lives.... but, when we do turn away, the troubles sure seem to compound upon themselves.... that, and we have less Godly ammuntition (prayer, love, compassion, perserverence, etc.) to battle those troubles.

Life ain't always a bed of Roses.... but..... "to those that overcome".... the Kingdom awaits!

I didn't mean to imply that we had to turn away from God to have problems. This is a real world with real problems, but the problems sure seem to have less impact when we run to God and not away from him.

He allows them to happen by the way we live, act and talk! We are all born sinners and it rains and the sun shines upon all! It's how we react to the trials and tribulations whether we go on living for Him after we are saved....born again in Jesus Christ.....or we leave Him and continue to commit willful sin against our Father in Heaven! God's grace is sufficient but the tests can be very trying and heartaches can be really hurtful. I always said for God to get my attention, He used a two-by-four and hit me between the eyes and whether He did or not...for He allowed the troubles to draw me nearer to my blessed Lord Jesus!

Now, Job, was a righteous man, but because of satan, God allowed Job to be tested unto the point of death....with Job never blaming God and everything was returned to him more than he had before...That is GREAT FAITH! God will never allow us to be tested beyond what we can bear without giving us a way of escape and Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life for Happiness and Eternal Life!!

God Bless!

I dont know if I agree totaly I look At people that are not saved and all this stuff dont seem to be happening to them they are getting there reward here on earth maybe Im reminded of Lazeraus in hell and Aberham speeking to him about the chasm that seperates Heaven and hell and how he got his reward on Earth with his riches and fine clothes where the other man in his arms in heaven you stepped over wile the dogs licked his wounds. What verse was that? Anyone know? Me and Deb discussed how after we got saved how stuff just kept happening to us. Before we were saved we had virtully no trils ans tribulations I think when Satian has you he dosent need to gig you he has you when you serve the Master you got a great big bullseye on you my Pastor agrees weve spoken at length on this matter. Sorry to ramble on!

does it make sense for him to throw troubles in the way of those he has already turned from God or is it more important to him to try to take away as many who already serve God and cause them to suffer both here and now as well as when the final judgement call is made?

Doesn't seem fair to us - and it really isn't. One thing I heard a long time ago and sticks with me and is from a movie called "Straight Talk" with Dolly Parton in it. Her comment was: "Fair? No one promised you anything would be fair. Even the Constitution only guarantees you Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. It doesn't even guarantee you happiness. Just that you can pursue it."

If we all got what we wanted it would be nice. If we all got what we deserved lots of people would be eating dirt. Glad we have a God who cares for us even more than the birds (who BTW probably sing better songs of praise than I do).

satan is a liar. Don't listen to him stirring up your emotions and taking your eyes off God. That's what he wants you to do. Look at everything else, be discontent, get upset and most of all walk away from God. If he can get you to do that, he has won and the only loser in this 'game' would be you.

God bless you and your family Dave

shakerdave,

I think it is scriptural to note that the closer that one becomes to Christ, that the more he/she is persecuted by the "world". Jesus eludes to this.... Paul makes note of it.... and, I'm sure other scriptures. It is sure Spiritualized in the Vision of John's Revelation of Jesus. I don't think trials and tribulations are disproportionate among believers or non-believers... I think it is pretty even as to which group suffers the most. However the non-believers do not have the hope that lies in Christ Jesus. Paul even says something like Rejoice in your suffering for Christ. We as Christians should never submit to the trials of this world..... it allows an even greater opening for Satan to render his evil deeds among us.
