If I were 126 years old, I'd be "seated," too...

Got out to my favorite hunting spot for just a short while this morning in the drizzle. Must be something about wet, drizzly weather and this particular spot, as I found my first Seated coin on this same type of day, at this spot, back in January of this year. On that day, I was hunting with the 11" Pro coil on my Explorer, but recently have begun hunting frequently with the 5" SunRay X-5 coil, trying to learn to pull goodies from amongst the trash.

Today, the drizzly wet weather and the X-5 coil combined to bring me some really good luck!

The Liberty Head "V" Nickel is a 1901, and was co-located with a nail -- a tough target that I would not have found were it not for the small coil.

The Seated dime is an 1886, and was a deep but clear, repeatable hit. This is my first Seated dime, and only my second Seated coin ever! Not sure why I missed this one in the past with larger coils, as I did not find a nail or other trash in the plug; perhaps there was one nearby that masked this dime on prior hunts.

Whatever the case, that's two hunts with the X-5, over the past week or so, and several really nice finds. Did I mention that I LOVE this coil?? It separates extremely well, and banged on that Seated dime at 6-7 inches deep!

Thanks for looking!

Excellent finds!! Im putting my ex 6" on this afternoon and going to my grove to see what I can do with it.Never really tried it before and I think that is the place for it as its really trashy. These explorers dont give up!!! Great job!

Nice going on the seated Steve,:clapping: Glad you are getting out and finding some keepers. I posted my two silver rings for you. Good luck on your next outing and maybe another seated will be waiting for you.

Nice finds for sure-- love the early US coinage. I'm getting used to running my X-8 on my Explorer. You getting prettt good depth on the 5" amongst the trash??

Nice finds Steve! I love my X-5 coil also! I love finding those trashy old parks, cause you know there are some goodies just waiting to see daylight! Great job!

Nice ones, Steve. My parks are trashy also, maybe I need to get a smaller coil. So far I'm still finding a few goodies with the Pro coil..

Thanks all!

shuptyler -- that 6" Excelerator is a great coil, too=; one of my partners uses one and really likes it. Hope it gave you some success!

Eddie -- THANKS! And I checked out your rings; VERY nice rings!

Yeah, Doug and Josey, the small coils REALLY shine in the trash. I am amazed!

YODA -- yep, getting real nice depth. As you know, too much iron trash REALLY hurts depth, no matter WHAT coil you are using, but even in the trash, I've been getting nice depth. I need more time on it (and more finds) to have a real good feel what this coil is capable of, but it has met -- and even exceeded -- my hopes as to what it can do, depth-wise. I KNEW it would separate well, but the good depth I'm getting is an added benefit, for sure!

Great finds man! :clapping:

Nice coin Steve!! It's exciting to pick up a silver coin and realize it's seated! I found one Sunday at my favorite park - haven't had a chance to clean it up and take pictures to post yet.
