IF i could make a tesoro metal detector

IT would have the knob of the compadre , a good sensitivity knob one that could be turned down so that you would not get a dime at 2.5" or you could crank it into max boost and it would have a manuel ground balance knob and last of all a spoked 5 x 7 " coil like the 8x9 i think that would be a hot machine how about you guys what would you build if you could put together a tesoro ?

I like the vaqureo I would like a depth gauge for pinpointing, so I would know to dig a 3inch hole instead if a
6 inch.
The Xlt spoild me with that.
thats all I need

Build by ??? a few years ago.

[size=large]The Super Compadre appears to have a Disc. 2 option, like a Tej

started out as a lowly simple Compadre. It was not a production model. It was extensively modified by the owner to his liking with some bells and whistles. And the new faceplates where computer generated then printed on a inkjet printer.

Monte, good post. Those units are not made anymore, why would Tesoro down grade the function of the new Vaquero unit by getting rid of the button or toggle mode for a Disc.--All Metal switch? Does not make sense, well at least the new Tejon can do this with the 2 Disc. Knobs and the toggle to go from Disc. to All Metal and should be just as good or better than the Bandido, Euro Sabre/Eldorado series.

The Tiger Shark still has some Bandido qualtities, look below:

http://www.tesoro.com/product/detectors/tigershark/
Quote, "The Tiger Shark uses microprocessor technology to create a true dual function machine. In Normal Mode, the Tiger Shark works like any other Tesoro detector. It uses the same great ground balance and discrimination features that made the Bandido series so successful."

I wonder how well the Tiger Shark works in it's Salt Mode?
"In wet salt conditions, changes in the conductivity in the sand cause most of the problems. The Tiger Shark uses a completely different set of internal settings in the SALT Mode than in the NORM Mode."

Sven, that is sure a good link on modifications, wow!

Is this what you mean Monte?

Sven wrote on his Cibola mod. post: "Another difference is the Disc/ all metal switch on the V. It's a pain if you like thumbing the disc. mode and then want to change into all metal to hunt. You loose the Disc. setting if you change into all metal. With the toggle switch under the rod, I can instantly switch back and forth from disc to all metal mode."

A Tejon should have this toggle built in to do this as well.

P.S. In 1990 I operated a Compass Gold Scanner and found good gold with it. It had almost identicle features to the Vaquero, Bandido, and Euro Sabre--Eldorado. I prefer a Auto GB for gold prospecting now of days. Manual GB is too much constant fiddling for gold prospecting but just fine and great for coin and relic hunting. For a Tesoro, I would buy a Lobo ST if looking for gold for any length of time.
