If all cost the same?

hi all
I'm wanting to know, if the cost of all machines were equal, what would be your first choice for the best coin hunting machine to be used in low to mid mineralized soil, and why please?
Thank you!
Ken

I don't have one.......but if all cost was the same.........Minelab E-Trac. From all that I have seen it's probably the best out there now.

At best this will be opinions... Unless we have all used every machine made........ there would be no way to answer your question..

Of what I have used I like Minelabs, T2, and Whites............. for various reasons including Depth, Ease of operation, and comfortable swinging for different periods of time..

I've owned an Etrac, GT, F75, DFX, all very good, all sold. The units I kept are Whites MXT, Tesoros Vaquero and Compadre. If I had to keep just one, it would be the Tesoro Vaquero. Sorry but all those high end machines simply didn't find any more then the units I kept. I don't know, maybe those expensive md's are designed to hunt buyers more them treasure. I was fortunate to be in a position to try many different models over the years. In the end, for me anyway, simple does just fine. Just my opinion, but it's based in actual use.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've been hearing good things about the Omega8000,Vaquero and the E-trac for coin hunting.I'm wondering what the major difference is between the e-trac and the SEpro are. I currently use a V3i and a F75se. I do like the V3i alot, but I think my OCD kicks in with that machine, I can't stop trying to tweak out the settings. Thus I'm wasting alot of time, always wondering if I can squeeze a bit more power from it :( The F75se is also a great machine, unfortunately where I like to hunt for silver, there's alot of EMI that makes it chit-chat non stop..... So with that being said,, that's why I'm looking for a new coin machine ...

Again, thank you for the input guys :)

I had the same problem with the Dfx tweaking the settings and wondering if I missed something. Switched to the etrac and pretty much ready to go without the constant tweaking .

So with the e-trac , you don't have to keep tweaking to try and get better hits on various targets? Or constantly checking different ground filters to find the best one for that part of the park, or field? Or switch between Best Data/Correlate to give a more solid VDI ?etc etc etc!

You don't have to do that on the V series either. Set it for your ground and leave it alone. Compulsive tweaking is not the fault of the detector, it is operator error.

I agree, I know I could set it up when I began at a new site and leave it. But I just cant help myself, Like I said, My OCD gets to me :( There's just to many things to adjust that can make it run just a little better "or so I keep telling myself"
The V3i is a very good machine, I'm knocking it at all. This weekend I found 3 mercs and a 1846Large Cent with it.Thats with 6hrs hunting and 1hr tweaking.
It would be really cool if I could find a machine that is as deep as the V3, but has fewer options for human error. Yes I'm picky!

I like tones and I like to keep it simple . So depending where and who I hunt with I switch off between an Explorer SE , White's M6 and a standard Teknetics T2 . The weight of the SE keeps me from using it as much as the T2 and M6 .

Great post/thread, I'm enjoying it!-----There has been some very good detectors mentioned here.----For me (at least at this point in time), it would be the Etrac and the GB Pro.----Most of the area(s) I hunt in are pretty heavily mineralized & that has an important bearing on my decision of detectors/coils.---Although very different, I feel the detectors I mentioned compliment each other very well for my hunting style & where I hunt.---------Del

Because I cant use the heavier detectors .e.g. Explorer, E Trac, V3 etc, I confine myself to Tesoros and some of the First Texas machines, eg. Fisher F series and Teknetics. Minelab XT70 is also good for me. I have heavier machines for beach hunting, but these I can hip/chest mount. HH
