IDX vs. Prism6t

How does the Prism 6t compare to the IDX. Which is better in trashy areas? How is the response time of the 6t compared to the IDX? 2filter, 3 filter, what is the 6t? Sure pulling for the 6t but from what I've heard the IDX is hard to beat. Thanks for any input.

I have them both. My IDX Pro has the mods. I like them both very much. I really think that the IDX Pro needs to be modded to be a factor in the choice of which one.

The 6t is all key pad controls . The IDX is all nob controls. I prefer knobs to adjust. Both come with factory ground auto ground balance witch can be erratic and unstable in tough areas. I do like the depth indicator with 6t. I have not used the 6t,but the IDX moded can find anything metal inland but does not do well at the beach.

Preset GB on the IDX. 6T has auto track with lock.

If you have an IDX, Clasic ID, IDX Pro etc, you can lift the made in america sticker and with a small screwdriver adjust the ground ballance. Or better yet,send it to Mr. Bill and have the threshold and ground ballance mod done to it.........Hombre

I know that Hombre. I have done the mod to my Classic 3 and IDX. But for most people that ask it's a factory set GB. Lot's of people don't know that even on Prizms 2,3,4 and 5 the GB and Threshold is adjustable too. Yes, it could be sent to Bill or others for the mod. But I was simply comparing factory to factory settings.

I took one apart to try one time. The trimmers are too small for me to desolder. I guess if someone can perform micro electronics the mod would be doable. You can adjust the GB and threshold through two small holes located in the lower corners of the back side of the head. Both holes has small black rubber plugs in them. It's not something you would adjust all the time. You would adjust them for your area and simply leave them alone.

Let me try and answer your questions, without sounding too partial toward the IDX that I have a vested interest in. I do have both units at the shop, and I like the 6T. I haven

White's makes a 4X6 for the Prism Bill. It compliments the 6T well.

Good info Bill. So far there is the 8 inch, 9 inch Spider and now the 4x6 Shooter coils that fit all the Prizm models. Jimmy Sierra has a Big Foot coil them too.
