IDX Pro or M6

I'm thinking of either looking out for an IDX Pro or M6, but don't know which would be better for searching ploughed land. Any suggestions guys?
Thanks,
Simon.

I'd definitely go for the M6. More coil options and it is basically an MXT for what you are wanting to do. (And...it has ground tracking!)

Not just ground tracking, but VERY GOOD ground tracking.......M6 hands down. If you are from across the pond, it is also more sensitive to the small hammered silver.

Ive had a M6 for over two years now. For the longest I really didnt appreciate the machine, except for its simplicity. I kept it around for one of my old hunting/fishing buddies to try out, maybe luring them into the hobby, hasnt worked yet, lol. Their loss. But, Ive come to appreciate it more and more, that may have something to do with a couple nice rings I found that my XL Pro over looked. I still use my Pro in open areas but when I hit a park,Its the M6 in my hand. I use the 5.3 concentric coil and stock 9.50 on it pretty evenly, depending on how many targets are in the ground. The M6 is no depth demon, but i have found targets as deep as 7 and 8 inches. Think after Christmas Im gonna order the 10X12 SEF coil for it and if it performs well in my old plantation./farm sites ,the Pro may get a rest. I was wanting an ETrac, actually, I still want one, just have other priorities right now, lol. I just dont like all the tones on the M6 wish it only had four and wish the signal and gain wasnt tied into one control. But its a good machine, glad I kept it.
Merry Christmas,
John
PS
No, I will never get rid of the XL Pro

 Hmmm...IDX or M6. That's a hard choice. If you wanted to create a nice working duo or "pair" of detectors you could do this. Get a DFX and a M6 because they both use the Eclipse coils. The other option would be to get an XLT and IDX because they both use the Blue / Black max 6.59 khz coils. It depends on what you already have but doing it this way would give you a nice detector backup situation with less coils to carry with you. Happy Hunting, RedDirtFisher :detecting::whites:

I have both the M6 and the IDX pro with a selection of coils for both. Between the two, I would definitely go with the M6. It has the Ground tracking, Tone ID (if wanted), Depth reading etc. that is not available on the IDX. The reason I keep the IDX Pro is that I haven't yet found a detector I like better in the really hi trash areas like a lot where they recently tore down an old house. The IDX really shines in these areas but the M6 beats it everywhere else.

i have an idx pro that has found me all kinds of stuff,it is my opinion that the idx has a faster response time than many other higher priced detectors, depth readings i don't really concern myself with ,i usually dig 4 inches to begin with .The idx is also extremley accurate at id'ing coins.I have just purchsed 1 on e-bay for 199.00 . also i personally think that tone id takes a lot of the fun out of detecting ,the idx is a single tone.Iff you have 600.00 dollars to spend than go to the m6.Some people say it is old teck, but old teck seems to have taken a heck of lot of silver out of the ground.best of luck jim
